For the record, Grugg can break a steel ball using only a rubber hammer.

He won't be satisfied until he figures out a way to break it.

That's what he does.

No worries. I'd love for ANYONE who has a few minutes on their hands to run some sample games and tell me what they think. Remember, games resolve in less than a second, so it's not like you need much time.

I just found an odd situation... a team lost a game, 7-6, due to a walkoff two run homer fromt he home team. Which means they were winning 6-5 at the start of the inning.

For some reason, they left their long reliever in for his third inning (he had come in for the starter) in an obvious save situation. Yes, the long guy still had enough stamina to pitch the inning, but any baseball idiot would have pulled him to bring int he closer for a one run save in the ninth. The computer did not, which means there is a hole in the logic. Bleh.

These are the kind of things I'm looking to correct.

I have batting stats displaying (not perfectly, but displaying). Pitching substitutions are making more sense now, though I still think that there are too many starters going deep into games.

It keeps getting better, though.

...simming a game takes absolutely no knowledge of what we're doing. Pick two teams and go - the games runs within a couple of seconds. Anyone can do it, whether or not they reserved a team back when we were testing the draft logic (that still probably needs more refinement).

Remember that for all abilities, 75 is considered to be absolutely average for a MLB caliber player.

OKay, here is a link to a sample game: sample game.

It's ugly, and the batting stats are not yet displayed. I know that there are bugs, as well. I believe that sometimes, singles cause runners on occupied bases to sometimes disappear. If you would like to help me test and figure out exactly what is going on when this happens, it would be much appreciated.

Runners never attempt to steal (yet) - I have to add this logic.

Pitchers are replaced when they tire, or when they get into a jam, but the "jam" logic is not yet right. I also think that pitchers may not be tiring quickly enough - I'm seeing a lot of 8 and 9 inning games from starts who are average or so at endurance. Really, they should typically last six innings - could be less, could be more. Sure, they CAN pitch a whole game, but this should be an exception for a guy with a 75 or so endurance rating. On the other hand, relievers often get pulled far too often.

Pinch hitting does not happen yet - I need to add this logic. Nor does defensive subbing or pinch running.

Still, there is a lot of complex logic going on here. If you like baseball, I'd love your feedback.

I dunno, dude - I think this is a "dive right in" type game. I'm a huge Robin Hood fan, myself, but this has an enormous "what if?" fun factor associated with it.

Welcome to the Inn!

I am considering - probably won't happen but I'm thinking about it - running a D&D game again.

Other than that, I'd say, go troll the recruitment forum and see what's out there.

Arien frowned as he tried to stretch his mind around the mystical tangle that Adrian had suggested. The young knight had more "mundane" experience with magic than most could claim, due to his spellcasting twin, but he could not recall a time that she had caused him to be exposed to any sort of alteration of time and/or reality such as that the former Imperial suggested.

Then again, Arien had never had much of a head for magic. It was entirely possible that Alloryen had tried to educate him to some of these finer points that Adrian discussed, only to have had it all fly over his head. Not that it made much difference to the present situation.

If Adrian was indeed correct, then the party was doomed to death (or fates worse) in a handful of days. The mission from Dwan would fail, innocents would die, and a pair of demonic brothers would run unchecked in the region.

All the more reason to accept the council's quest. To the heir to House Thedell, it was becoming increaingly clear that the priests of Heironeous played some vital part in this play to which they all took part. What that part was - and what part the party would need to play, if the demons were to be stopped - well, those were questions that could not yet be answered.

As for the bard - Arien felt strongly that they would be fools to turn down assistance of any sort. Dapple's protest ran off him like water from a duck's back; Arien was quite certain that the lad would openly doubt an avatar of the gods themselves. What chance did a traveling minstrel have in those eyes?

As for Sunset - it was clear that the little pseudodragon was agitated about something, but what that something might be was beyond human ken. With that being the case, a memory of a leering demon face lept unbidden to Arien's mind, and the knight shivered involuntarily.

"If my friend here is right," Arien spooke, "then we indeed have very little time. Quest or no quest, it seems obvious that the priests are central to whatever is going on, and we would be fools to ignore this."

After pausing to glance momnentarily at Dapple, he continued. "Furthermore, we would be foolish to accept aid offered to us. Unless someone can provide good reason why Flynn - who has the trust of these town elders - should not accompany us, then I say he is welcome to do so."

That said, Arien spoke one final time. "Is there anything else we should know? Any detail left unspoken? Any arcane preperation we should take? If not, I would urge that we leave as soon as possible, lest the demons gain even a moment's extra advantage."

New comic is up and live. Also, check out the new logo!

If you enjoy Loaded Dice, please click on todays's reddit link and be sure to click the up arrow next to the comic title. It takes only seconds to make a reddit account, and good voting there brings in a TON of new readers!

For grins, I have added a Digg link (http://digg.com/comics_animation/Props_to_William_Shatner_a_Loaded_Dice_web_comic), though nobody every Diggs the comics.

What do you think of this strip? I love the expressions that Lyra gave the characters. Your feedback is very much welcomed!

I have three different game ideas that would work really well with fantasy. At least one will defintiely get done... someday. I hope to do all three.

But this one is purely baseball.

Soem of you may remember this old idea of mine. Just wanted to let you know that I'm actually getting close to ready for beta, not alpha, testers. I have a chunk of programming left to do in regards to some of the more detailed logic, but it will soon be much more than "I pick my team, too bad I can't do anything with it".

I know that Grugg was interested in this... if there are others of who who might want to create completely fictional electronic baseball teams, let me know.

Subject: Spamvertize rules

Since the beginning of the Inn, we've had a fairly straightforward policy about the posting of links and such, but there are always questions. Here is the absolutely, by the book way that link posting is to be handled at the Red Dragon Inn.

  • All links posted simply for the sake of sharing said link belong in this forum category. Period.

If you are participating in a discussion about d20 rules and want to share a link to the SRD, feel free to post said link in that topic.

If you are GMing a game and want to post a link to your character sheet, by all means, post that link there.

If you just want to show us your personal web page, or some facebook group that you enjoy, it should go here.

  • If you are an established member who wants to share something, feel free. You don't have to ask a mod if it's okay to post a link to your college movie project. If you started a new basement business, feel free to tell us about it. There is no distinction between free and paid stuff, as long as you aren't making a jerk of yourself.

  • If you are brand new to the site, become an active member before posting here. Otherwise, you look like a spammer, and will be treated as such. Don't join the site simply to post a link to your website, webcomic, or business. The link will be deleted, and you will be banned.

  • Use common sense when posting links. Don't link to porn, hate crap, pages that are set up simply to cause flame wars, etc. If it's not something that you'd normally post at the Inn, don't post a link out to it.

Make sense?
