Subject: ah, well... what the hey?

It was a cinch to do, since I had the code already.

Each and every forum topic, period, now has its own RSS feed. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and there beside the Subscribe/Unsubscribe buttons, you'll see the various RSS lilnk buttons. Each feed contains the ten most recent posts titles, their authors, and the date and time of the post in question.

Just another way to keep abreast of the Inn.

May 9th, 2025 - 1105
Communications Center, Antarctic Research Facility 36, Antarctica

The team falls into rank as per Kernan's orders, with the worst of the wounded in the center, Kane and his BFG at point, and the ell-tee taking up the rear.

As the rangers make their way cautiously through the empty corridors of ARF 36, their footsteps create hollow echoes that are the only audible sounds. Soon, they find their way back into the main laboratory (with the machine still humming away, protected by the blue force field), and then, into the northern auxilliary lab.

All is as Kane's team left it earlier - the lab itself is a charred shell of what once was. The huge, ruptured plastic husk still lies in the corner of the room, with the tangle of strange tentacles beneath it.

The dead, reptillian body of the alien - minus one eye and a large chunk of head - still lies motionless within the "pod". It would appear that nothing has disturbed this room or its lifeless occupant since the rangers left some nine hours ago.

Subject: RSS feeds?

I have added an RSS feed to the front page of the site, so that those who prefer to keep up with the site in this manner will get instant updates whenever we add a new article (without having to check the front page, subscribe to an email list, etc).

It would be very little trouble to add similar feeds to the various game threads on the site. We could configure them to, say, display the post titles and authors for the last ten or so posts in any given thread.

Is that something that the membership of the site would be interested in?

Almerin has his own parody up. I can say without reservation that it is excellent!

Check it out: Treasure (to the tune of Amy Winehouse's Rehab)

Just some FYI: emybear will be out for almost two weeks. She extends her apologies to the games she's involved in, and promises to resume her daily (and more frequent) posting ritual upon her return.

Okay.

By visits per city:

#1 is undefined city. So throw that out.

#1 of readable cities is Toronto, Canada (472 visits).
#2 is London, England (321)
#3 is Edmunton, Canada (293)
#4 is Vancouver, Canada (288 )
#5 is the first US city! Birmingham (221)
#6 is Tacoma Park (206)... no idea where this is.
#7 is Doha, Qatar (196)
#8 is West Hollywood, California (191)
#9 is North York, England (190)
#10 is Ottawa, Canada (187)

3 US cities out of the top ten? Must be a lot of country bumpkins visiting the Inn!

Note to self: we need to advertise in NYC, Chicago, etc.

In the new world order, we will do away with silly plural/singluar duality words.

There is debates as to the proper form - many support mooses, but I like mooseses.

I disabled the "religious/political preference" data collection subroutine, but I CAN give you regional info.

Not surprisingly, the USA is responsible for the most visits. However, we're much more international than the average bear - US visits represent only 58.4% of our visits.

Number two, with a strong showing, is the land of mooseses, maple syrup, mounties, and snow. Canada represents almost 21% of our visits.

The UK is third, with 6.4%. The Netherlands are fourth with 2.1%. The rest of the top ten (down to where we drop below 1% for each) are Qatar, Australia, Iceland, Poland, Germany, and Poland.

Finland? A mere 11th on the list.

Dear Mama Kane:

The United States Government regrets to inform you that your boy is deader'n a doornail. He's been crushed, dismembered, probed by aliens, incinerated, and frozen... not necessarily in that order.

He will receive a burial at sea... when the polar ice caps melt and his body (or what remains of it) sinks into the ocean.

Hopefully, this money will soothe your pain. Prepare to be taxed, of course.

Sinerely,
Uncle Sam

These are according to Google analytics for the period of the past month (September 23 - October 23).

11,082 visits, resulting in 72,635 page views, from 4,081 unique visitors. Of these visits, 7,265 were from returning visitors.

Most days see 200 (or a few more) unique visitors to the Inn.

The most common visitor (as with most websites) visited only once (34% of the time). However, we have incredible loyalty - the second most common percentage was from people who visited 201 or more times (27% of the time).

90% of visitors hit the site more than once per day.
4% more visit daily.
another 1% visit no more than two days apart.

Most of our users have fast internet (less than 5% on dialup).

Our #1 traffic source is direct links (bookmarks, typing in the address, etc) - 50.48% of visits.
Google is #2, with 29%.
Yahoo is a distant third, with just under 5%.

The most used pages (aside from the front page and the main page of the forums,) are the dice roller (5219 page views) and the town generator (3997 page views). Gee, sounds like I should create more tools!

Anyway, I thought these might be interesting to some Innmates.
