She missed, but that wasn't what was grating Kate's circuitry... it was seeing the Jedi go and meet the Sith head on in melee combat!

If Kate had teeth, she would've gritted them, but instead she just merely shifted her holographic face to portray it. She wanted to go and meet the Sith as well, if not to help then to show that she was probably as capable in such a combat as the Jedi... but then again, her vibroblades probably wouldn't amount to much against a lightsaber blade.

Oh well, her help was needed elsewhere. Kate quickly rushes toward Arruna'dira's speeder, letting another shot fly from her hand as she gets nearer to her attackers.

(Move action: going toward the speeder, to get closer to the enemy underlings, and standard action of firing... good news, I think my cold's just about over )

"Still using black and red? I would've thought the style dead by now." Kate catcalls across the hangar.

Seeing the others go to get the ships ready, Kate decides to move forward to buy them time. As she does so, she brings out her left blaster-hand, and takes a shot at one of the droids.

(um... not quite sure where she moved... anywhere within 1 move action where she has partial cover please... and which droid... I don't think it really matters right now, so either one... and sorry for coming in a bit late... I think I'm a bit sick right now...)

Cindi staggered to her feet, only to find herself helped by unseen hands. She nearly winced and recoiled from the unexpected touch. Nearly lashed out with the metal flute in hand... but she didn't. Where did she get to be so aggressive?

Carefully, she regarded the man in front of her, her green eyes piercing, yet distant, as she thought to herself.

"I'm Cindi." She said, her voice holding a forced calm about it, "I would say I'm alright, but I can't be sure... as for where... I have no idea..."

As well, she voiced the question in her mind aloud, "Are you real? Is this real?"

Yet, even as she asked aloud, she realized how irrelevant it was; it didn't matter what was real or not right now, because anything she could perceive could very well still hurt her. She backed away from the man slightly, unconsciously, yet movement caught her eye, and she turned to look. Her eyes widened as she saw the six-legged nothingness walk up to a stack of bodies nearby, corpse in disembodied mouth. At that point, her intuition screamed at her to get away from there.

She ran. Going down the road, or whatever it was, opposite in the direction the anti-spider, as she named in her mind, went. However, as she weaved around a stairway, she nearly ran into another man. Instead, she skidded to a stop, using the railing of the stairwell to help, and froze, fear visible under attempts to keep her face passive.

"Who are you?" She asked, her voice still holding a forced calm about it.

As I put in the game post... I'm going to try to open the blast door specifically.

"We might not have to go all the way there," Kate notes, "If I can interface with the ship's computer, I might be able to open one of the doors that way. If everyone could help look for one, that'd be the good..."

Kate begins searching along one side of the hall, looking for an interface port...

"Oh, nevermind; I already found it." Kate calls, plugging into the outlet somewhat hidden by a decorative plant with her left hand's port.

Now to open the door... come on computer, be nice to me...

(Alrighty, trying to open the non-cardkey blast door, since that one seems to be the most direct route to their destination...

Ohyeah, and I'll try taking 10 first... if that doesn't work then I'll have to get rolls...)

I've been trying to look it up... and it seems a bit ambiguous, so I'll ask here: since the pad requires a keycard, it would be very difficult (or impossible) to hack via the computer system, right?

Subject: Remember? Remember what?

She was dead. Lying on an angled plane, on her front, motionless... a woman, wearing the tattered remnants of some archaic dress, with short, bright red hair. Her face was angular, perhaps even foxlike... if one remembered what a fox was... No, not dead... she moved her fingers, her right hand feeling against something rough, yet feeling something slick, something sticky, something not altogether pleasant. Although, perhaps even more unpleasant, she knew what that something was...

Blood.

She felt weak, but since when did she trust her senses? Not since the darkness at least. Tentatively, she allowed her awareness to blossom, despite whatever sense her mind had, telling her not to. Then she realized, and half remembered... she still had it in her left hand... wait... had what?

Why not just see? She opened her eyes, but immediately closed them, stung by the peculiar sight, if one could call it that. For years, or maybe minutes, she just lay there, opening and closing her eyes, waiting for them to stop hurting.

Then she finally became aware of the rest of her senses. She felt the tattered dress she wore, blood red in colour, or was it red from the blood staining it? She didn't know; she didn't remember. She just knew it was red. The stench that filled her nostrils was revolting, yet one she somehow knew from somewhere... the scent of decaying bodies, mixed with blood. She could hear words, other people, but it felt distant, indistinct, unknown...

Finally, she uses her right arm, propping herself up slightly, as she looks at whatever it is in her left hand. A flute. A metal flute, probably silver at one point, but difficult to tell under the blood that coated it. It was out of tune, and couldn't be put in tune. Wait... was it?

All this thought of things around her, but then she realized... what did she know of herself? She closed her eyes, looking inside, trying to find something, anything, that may give her a clue. However, there was nothing. Nothing... just the same darkness as the darkness that one sees with their eyes closed.

She opens her eyes, and looks at the flute. There was a small glimmer; a section of the flute that hadn't been coated. Turning it over, she reads what is engraved there.

Cindi

Cindi? Who was that? Well, if the flute was hers, then maybe the name on it was hers too... so she decided her name was Cindi.

She then turned, seeing others not far from where she was. She couldn't quite hear them... so she leaned forward...

Alas, that was too far, and something else slid and bumped into her from behind... something limp, like a body... like the others falling from the sky...

The feeling of being unbalanced came first, but before she could react, it had already changed to a feeling of nothing beneath her. She didn't even have time to scream as she crashed into the balcony below, before being taken by the flow of blood down to the ground, cushioned by the bodies there. She groans, before struggling to her feet...

So far, this really wasn't her day...

I've been keeping track myself as well... well, kind of hard to mess up when your character has only shot once...

I'd rather that we keep track of our own ammo... it makes it a bit more realistic, since then there is the worry of running out of ammo, and I'm used to keeping track of arrows as well on my D&D characters anyway

Topic: What does it mean to be Human
Subject: ...

It is a paradox... I agree with Admiral; although there are things of which we are 'certain', in the end, they're only things which we are more certain about than others. For instance, consider the emotions one; if we try to be 'certain' that only humans can experience emotions, how can we be truly certain if we are unable to share communication with animals? In the end, the same argument you use to show it is 'certain' can be reversed to show it isn't. Lacking an omniscient awareness, it is impossible to know for sure.

That being said, I do have some suggestions as to what you may be able to use.

The ability to perceive things in an abstract form. Given a void, we try to define pattens out of what we see. This kind of brings me to my next one.

The need to define things. The fact that philosophy exists in itself is a key point. In particular, the need to define what makes oneself, or the need for self-awareness.

Two suggestions... and therefore my two cents...

Lightsabers can cut through vibro-weapons right?

If so... that probably means I'm out of luck for duels

I think my amendments the the 'no AoO' still work for duels though, since in duels neither is truly guarding against passage (that AoO doesn't exist then), and if they want to counter trips and such, they have to be guarding against those...

Without those circumstances, it's no AoO

Reconfiguring energy relays to the shield circuit to restore resistance.

Kate hardly had to think about it; it was just about instinct for her. Still, there was one thing that was nagging at her mind...

"You insolent ruffians! I'm billing you for the metal polish I'll have to use for this!" Kate screeches at the Mandalorians, despite the fact that there was only a very small likelihood that they would listen.

The gold-like plate in question, reminiscent of some foreign and archaic armour style on her torso, was scorched by the heat from the laser burst, leaving a dark mark upon the otherwise shiny surface. Her shield generator had prevented most of the impact from going through, but the heat from the burst was still enough to cause that mark. Still, that it HAD gone through had caused her shield generator to fall in resiliency. She would need to get that back up...

Looking across at Awvoor, Kate calls, "I'm coming too!"

Heading off after him, Kate re-draws her second vibroblade, while background processes attempt to restore her shield.

(moving after Awvoor, drawing vibroblade in the process, and I'm doing the 1 swift action/round to restore the shield, in order to keep up with Awvoor)

I lost 1 hp?!

...

Well, not as bad as it could be ^^

Silly hp-exaggeration aside, I'm going to suggest an amendment to the 'no AoO'; as it is, it's kind of absolute, and doesn't quite make sense in some circumstances

-if the character is actively guarding a passage, and an enemy rushes past them, that should still provoke AoO as normal; it's just if the character isn't really paying attention to the passage (say, concentrating on an opponent in melee, or hacking some computer off to the side) and one runs past, then I could see there not being one

-I think the 'battle move' AoO's (incurred from attempts to trip, disarm, etc) should only occur if the attacked individual is using total defence, or attacking defensively... It doesn't quite make sense with the AoO's for them in normal combat, at least to me, because if the opponent suddenly bashes say the vibroaxe in the character's hands with the attempt to knock it out of them, I don't really see how you can react unless you're specifically watching for tricks.

With that, I think it should work fine ^^

That being said... I just had an interesting image in my mind of Kate fighting two battle droids, and a third runs by her, only to be clothelined by a vibroblade held by one of her arms not being used to fight the two battle droids.

A mighty old live oak tree grows from the tiny seeds of an acorn, usually over a period of decades. Once fully grown, it's nearly impossible to uproot, even moreso without destroying the bed of dirt in which its planted. Burning it wouldn't work either, as you'll scorch the earth around it as well.

Perhaps CC Corp is dealing with a hidden, stubborn old tree in their system.

Noting the potential value in all of the things that are easily grabbed off of the felled enemy units, Kate quickly undoes her cloak, her six arms now completely visible to the others, and she stacks whatever she can on it. Then, she folds it up, and slings it over her shoulder, held by her tertiary left hand.

"Time to move." Kate murmurs to herself, running down the corridor after the others.

At the blast door, Kate expectantly looks over toward Arruna'dira. She needn't have bothered; the Twi'lek already moved with a clear indication of what she was doing.

"Well, I can't just let you handle it alone now, can I?" Kate rhetorically asks, moving forward as well and sheathing one of her vibroblades as she does so (specifically in her primary left hand).

(Basically using Aid Another... so +2 to Arruna'dira's check I think)

As I'll put in my post, Kate will have taken off her cloak (so all six of her arms are visible now), stacked whatever else could be easily taken, then folded it up and slung it over her shoulder, held by her tertiary left hand.

Kate smiles smugly as the droid falls before her. Scrap metal compared to her; she was well made, after all. However, a blaster shot whizzes by her, bringing her back to reality. Her head turns sharply, taking in her new target.

"Oh? You're next are you?" Kate asks, advancing toward the soldier, "You're worse than that droid."

She quickly brings her vibroswords to bear, bringing them down upon the soldier.

(Moving to the soldier that attacked her, if possible. If not, moving to the closest one. Either a full attack with both vibroswords, if I can, but I doubt it, or a single attack with one vibrosword)

Fear and respect. Those were the two things used, intentionally or not, by any person in authority. Still, Ocyari did not want to assume authority in this group. That could endanger her own mission, and so she should be more discreet. Still, the way Tamuril acted was too much, and so Ocyari acted in turn. Her father had warned her that she had gotten a dangerous temper... well, she could work on that later.

Ocyari stayed back, watching the others as they gave their own first impressions to the man by the well. She was curious about how they would choose to come across, so she kept her ears open, even as she appeared to be intrigued by something else, her eyes scanning the view of the ocean from there.

So far so good... or so it seemed. However, the man proved himself to be of more interest than how the others came across. Now, she just needed an excuse to join the group...

“Ocyari, please come and join us.”

Ocyari smiled inwardly; she needn't have worried. Turning toward Isilmiri, Ocyari nods, and moves over to join them. Movement catches her eye, that of Tamuril. Ocyari gives her no heed, after all, it made sense she was avoiding her, but in the end, she had only herself to blame; if Ocyari hadn't been the one to slap her, she wouldn't be surprised if one of the other villagers decided to do so themselves.

Deeming it appropriate, Ocyari curtsies to the man after reaching the well, but decides against speaking for the moment; with the multitude of things that Isilmiri had spoken, he already had more than enough to take in, and Ocyari didn't truly have anything to add anyway.

Kate sniffs, unsatisfied with the combat droid before her. Indeed, it appeared as worthless as she had accused it of being.

"Stop trying to hit me and hit me!" Kate catcalls, "Or are you only good for the scrap heap?"

Kate's primary left hand closes around the hilt of her second vibroblade, and she draws it smoothly from its sheath, but despite the appearance that she'd attack with that blade, she doesn't. Instead, she takes the blade in her primary right hand and swings it around, attacking the droid again.

(Move - drawing her second vibroblade, standard - attacking the same droid again)
