The half elf mage looked up from the book, "A ring? thank you, but no." She held up her right hand which held several rings already. Then opening her own book she looked up to and said, "Master Ulthok, may hap you could help me with this spell?" Alyia questioned pointing to the lightning spell. "I get the casting in general but the arithmetic confounds me to no end. And it is much to dangerous a spell to simply cast with out knowing the full ramification of its effects and extent." A blush seemed to wash her cheeks as she turned the book so that he could read it though he noted she did not release it to him.

Ulthok chuckled as he read the text. “I see you have been taught by a scholarly wizard. They usually write the text so that the learner must spend time trying the spell over and over. In time the student will realize that the math is a buff and it is the wizards will and sense that controls the spell. When you cast the spell next just be confident as you draw the power and concentrate on the target. Your will is stronger than you may believe, the spell will serve you, you do not need to serve it.
Before suggesting they go to the city wall to let the mage show him her technique Rayne and Weave caught his attention.

As it is there are too many to carry. There may be other items of value left behind, they were pirates once."

Taking his leave from the young knight Tohmas sought out the ranger Crow. “Friend, while we are strong again we should find from where the sound of is coming. If it is truly water then that is where thing would gather. Lead on and I will follow.

Subject: Stay Safe.............


Stay safe and be careful. Water does odd things to homes. Be careful with power and check floor supports. With that much water you might get back flushing on sewage that can come up in the basement if you are coennected to a sewer line. Washers and dryers have motors near the floor, so do most furnaces, so be sure they are unplugged and cleaned before you turn then on.

Get pictures of the damage for insurance claims. Show all the stuff floating and get closeups of any big dollar items. You can never have too much proof. Home owners doesn't always cover flood, but have it all ready so you can file. Get it all down, cloths, books, anything that's water damaged. If you end up having to go through State or Fed disaster relief then you're way ahed on your claim. Someiwhere there may be foundation damage too. I know this sounds a bit materialistic but the government and insurance companies are not charities and you need to be prepared support your claims.

Our thoughts are with you and we are glad you are safe.

Subject: We have Cor Capital One Cards.....


When Cor sold all the extra gear the money was available for anything the party needed to buy. It was known to the merchants to just send the bill to the Manor where the money was stored. So there really wasn't any money to spent.

And Valene got her tongue pierced? I thought you were trying to cool Ulthok's off??? That may add a lot curiousity. Hope it doesn't have sharp egdes.

Yeah, we need to get in the habit of going over all dead enemies for what the have. Hmmmm. sounds like a hint to pile the weapons so I'll have Tohmas recomend it in my post today.

If Kriea wants the ring for Valene I'll back post. Ulthok could leave it in her room with a note about how he understands the need for them to calm the romance. It would a token of friendship and a help to her to control animals that might become frightened of her riding cat.

Seeing we don't know how she catches up to the group, she's not with them at the moment, unless Kriea posts her hurrying to join the group.

Here is what it does....

Ring of Animal Friendship:

When the wearer of this ring approaches within 10 feet of any animals of neutral alignment and animal intelligence, the creatures must roll saving throws vs. spell. If they
succeed, they move rapidly away from the ring wearer. If the saving throws fail, the creatures become
docile and follow the ring wearer around. The item functions at 6th level, so up to 12 Hit Dice of
animals can be affected by this ring.
Animals feeling friendship for the wearer will actually guard and protect that individual if he expends
a charge from the ring to cause such behavior. A ring of this sort typically has 27 charges when
discovered, and it cannot be recharged. A druid wearing this ring can influence twice the prescribed Hit
Dice worth of animals (24 rather than 12), and a ranger is able to influence 18 Hit Dice worth of
animals.

Good we have more info now the Cor told about his dream. I just thought too that if we fly under the castle it will help keep us from being seen. We could have a nice surprise and see an open tunnel or such leading into the castle, maybe a sewer drain. not so sweet smelling but a way in other than over the top.

Let the other groups draw attention as we sneak in. Maybe we could even make a hole in the bottom with spells or digging of some kind. That ground act might work with support.

Subject: As For Flying.....


In Tann's post it said we get potions to make us fly so there isn't a problem there. Bareel may need some help seeing he's never flown before but that's simple enough to just give him a boost while he gets the hang of it.

We will likely have some mid air battleing with the gargoyles but a couple of good smacks and they go to pieces, I hope.

I picture the casle as not having any land around it on the sides. Sort of just plucked up with the ground under it in tact.

I'd guess most of those inside will be looking over the front to see where the bolders land, so we should fly under and come up behind. Go over the back wall or on the parapet. We can see into the courtyard and follow the gangway down.

Subject: A Good Time...


Now would be a good time for Cor to relate his vision to the party. Then we all can look for the Queen if we believe him.

If Cor's vision has more details about the castle that too would be good to know. We need a rally point at the castle and some idea what we are trying to locate.

I've always felt that splitting the party is not a good idea, it reduces our strength and puts to groups out of communication so they don't know if the other is being successful. When Sirene went lone wolf at the dome it was a real risk, the party got stalled and she could of had much worse issues.

Being aggressors and defenders might be better. Those with thief skills and detection skill concentrate on looking for the source while the guards protect their backs.

To me it seems like there are six objectives.
1. Get into the castle as safely as possible.
2. Locate the Queen (After Cor tells us about her)
3. Free the Queen
4. Find the flying magic source
5. Destroy the flying magic source.
6. Escape alive with the Queen.

Easy right?

I didn't see anything in the PBH covering an option to raise points so I thought I would ask. We are early in the story and player levels so I thought it could be built into action if it took a given amount of training time.

In the 2nd Ed tabletop games I play we can side bar story and do training, but must account for the time and materials. The DM then does his roll thing to establish success and degree.

I'll try to geta post up soon about moving to find the Happy Waters. I'd figure Crow and Tohmas would lead the way. As they determine direction and concentrate on that the others could follow and do a little more site searching as we go.

BTW, are pirates weapons available to be gathered and the best kept by the party for use? Some of our lesser armed folk might be able to take on a cutlass and learn to handle it from our fighters.

A little back posting between Rayne and Amara could have Rayne sharing her prayer book and adding to the number of spells Amara has available. Just like Ulthok gave the Haila's spell book to Aliya to copy. That would give more choices.

Subject: Not A Fighter????


This Cleric is armed to the teeth, strong as a bull(17 Strength)and agile as a ballet dancer (17 Dex).

Talk about "Float like a butterfly and sting like a T Rex."

She can deal some real damage. Don't be to worried about getting into the fight, Amara appears to be a Battle Cleric.

Her armor is HIGHLY protective(-4)and her weapons are deadly. She can really take a beating too with 70 hit points and Con 17, it will take a lot to hurt her or keep her down.

That +3 Mace alone will be a great advantage. You get +3 to your roll to hit your foe. It does up to 10 points of damage per hit and every three rounds you get an extra attack.

That Hammer is a real doozy too. Up to 8 point damage whacking and 10 if thrown.

The Crossbow and bolts for range fighting is better than most of our range weapons. You get 2 added to your roll to hit for the bow and two more for the +2 bolts, that is VERY likely to hit your target. You do up to 7 points damage with each bolt.

The +3 dragger for close in fighting are almost sure to hit and do up to 7 points damage and you get two attack per round, so if both on the same target that's up to 14 points damage.

She also gets another +1 added to her ability to hit as a racial bonus for being Elven. So what ever she attacks it is most likely she'll hit it.

She is force before, during and after any combat with her spells, weapons and healing. She can care best for the group by using all those areas with vigor.

She walking death to evil and life to good!

So sicum girl!!!

+3 Mace of Disruption SM/Med:1d6+4 / LG:1d6+4 #ATKS:3/2 (All evil creatures take 5d4 +4 points of damage when hit. Any undead or evil creature from lower planes %chance may utterly destroy them.)

Just in time to plan.

We should think about how to get up and into the castle. It won't do much good to land outside.

Tann, we all held hands and Ulthok cast invisibility could he make them all invisible with one spell? It's a touch spell so he would be touching the mass so they all get the effect, kind of like turning a giant invisible.

We would all stay invisible as long as each doesn't attack. We can hear each other, just not see each other. So we'd want to dicuss a target area to land. Some may want to stay in contact so they don't feel abandoned.

We need to get in before we go beserk.

BTW, Sirene and Weaver both have Improved Invisibility which will allow attack. So would the same work if all were connected when the spell is cast?

So now we all know about the "Rain Dance". It's most likely the most powerful thing Tohmas can do. So PROTECT THE HEALERS!

BTW, how do we increase our ability numbers? I'd like to find a way to get a higher dex. I was wondering if Tohmas got Crow to help train him in dex skills as we travel what would it take to gain 1-2 dex points?

Ok kiddo you are starting to see that this game isn't your usual D&D. You get to be a Super Hero with so many goodies because we fight the worst and badder baddies. The situation always change by chance and we adapt or die. Ulthok has already died once and he's back.

So blindly go with noone has gone before!

Or was that boldly??? Anyway plans are good but mostly to help the rest to coordinate some.

We are flying up to something we have no clue of what we will meet if we get past the gargoyls.

Hunkered down behind the thruster house the kid did his best to maintain a low profile. His GRZ1 was propped to cover Wyatt as the Capt’n addressed the Marshall. When the two armor clad lackies drew down on Wyatt Asher sighted the throat of the Marshall. The switching to the slow breathing pattern that steadied the nerves and the gun was now automatic. The gun slinger slowly squeezed the trigger.

The marshall raised his hand and the guards pulled back their weapons. Ash exhaled releasing the pressure on the trigger, but he kept the man sighted. Movement near Wyatt showed that others were coming to his aide. Havelock and Miss Willow were now in view and it worried the kid that they might get caught in a cross fire if thing went bad. As long as the Feds stayed in view Ash would hold his position, but if they moved into the Roc he’d hot foot it back inside.
