From the darkness up the drift there is a rapid secession of three pop noises, like water balloons breaking at a kids party. Wolf grunts loudly as the first bullet hits him, then a second and third; the big mechanic knocked backwards and falls to the ground. With sound of the first grunt Asher throws himself to the floor and close to the wall.

The Kid reeled in horror and anger as the man that just saved his life was dropped cold to the ground.
From the same darkness comes a cold laughter. "Sorry Talhone, but your friend there doesn't seem to understand that this haft is unstable. Couldn’t have him shoot that shotgun again." The sheriff’s voice comes out of the gloom. "You are fast boy! Almost as fast as me, but you ain't got a hope so why don't you just throw you weapons my way and stand up nice and slow."

Time seemed slow as the kid lay flat in the dirt on the floor of the mine. Asher felt the crushing weight of failure, he’d tried to help. …he’d been shot, stunned, blown up and now Wolf was dead. His heart raced, his ear rung and just wanted Pearson dead, no matter what happed to him. The sheriff must have infrared scope and the gun slinger reasoned that Pearson had bead on him now.
“Ta Ma Duh” (damn it )……. “Go Hwong Tong” (Enough of this nonsense)…. Asher slowly slid his hand into the pouch where the hard metal spheres rested . He knew the feel of the Fragmentation Grenade. “Pearson, I’m tossing my gun….” Ash pulled the grenade out, than slid his Python from its holster and tossed it toward the sound of Pearson voice. “I’m raising my hands and stand’n. “ Ash clutched the grenade holding the clip tight and pulled the pin. As he started to stand he held the grenade out in front of so Pearson scanning through the infrared sight he could see the round cold dark spot against the reddish glow of his hand.
Do you see this in my hand? ……..The pin is out……..If you shoot, we’re both dead! …. You and your people have already taken too much from me, so I ain’t got nothing left to loose, but you do! …..If you’re dead you won’t get your gold…….If you’re dead you won’t get Miss Bridgett………..You were going to kill me anyway, but if you shoot me this here banger will either kill you quick or drop this whole shaft on your head. “Juh Guh Jee Hua Juhn Kuh Pah! (There’s nothing in this plan that isn’t Horrific)

“Put your gun down and crawl over here…… you do that and you’ll live!” Asher stared into the darkness, enough was enough!

I like the way you pulled the post together to fix the idea of the towns folk needing our help and we missed your point.
i for one will now post a bit during the eating and drinking.

Don't be surprised by some fun and pranks. I'll let it lead to Cor gathering alls attention for a bit group business.

I think this a great place for a few Cantrips of playful fun.
A bit of good old fashion show magic to delight the crowd.

Maybe the cleric might try a few Orisons to help the merriment.

So here's what happened to those that signed.


Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

Five signers were captured by the British as traitors and tortured before they died.

Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.

Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army, another had two sons captured.

Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.

They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

Would we be willing to do the same now?

When in the course of human events.........


There wasn't regular army when this country took it's independance. It was the people risking everything. If you check back on who signed the Declaration most of them did lose everything.

Remeber what we said and think of why we said!



When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Actually it was "written" in stages between 1937 and 1949, much of it during World War II.

The story I heard was that he wrote it for his son during the war and sent it to him while he was in the service.

It was published in 1954 -55.

I printed the map and got most of it figured out. So it good.

K. you may have missing the escape, but the adventure continues. I've indicated that Ulthok is headed to the Rising Moon. He'll take a room there, as much as he'd like a drink, he'll take a bath first. After that he'll join the other in the common room for food drink and fun. Cantrips of Clean just don't measure up to hot bath. Ulthok may be rouge, but he is a civilized rouge.

Is that a Bordello on the North East road?

Tann, maybe a brief decription of shops would be handy.
There seems to beplaces to sell our extra goods and purchase new supplies.

Did we ever deside if Haila's book was a magic book or a prayer book?

The party made their way into Gygax. Ulthok deemed that in this area any settlement with two Inns or more gets to be called a city. Maggot had mentioned an Inn called The Rising Moon so that was his destination. Thoughts of food, drink and friends kept his pace brisk. The inside of a cheerful common room was a pleasure sorely missed.

As the party passed through the streets, Valene slipped up next to Ulthok. Entwining her fingers in his she slowed his walk, bending him near she whispered,"I want you to dance with me. It's been too long since I've met someone who could match me. Are your fleet feet up to the task?"Her breath was warm and gentle on his neck, a smile gleamed in his eyes as she tried to slip away. Ulthok was still holding her hand and deftly raised her arm spinning her in smooth pirouette. Releasing her hand he made slight half bow. As her eyes caught his, the thief mouthed, “Done”.

Yes it was good to be out of that mountain. Now what other adventure may await at the Rising Moon?
