Subject: Sunday Morning, almost....

Morning all, it's about 11:30 here now.
I love the weekends, mostly. I try to sleep in but the dog usually get me up between 6-7 to go out. I'll just hit the couch then.

Next weekend I'll be gaming too. Our group gets together about once a month or so. We'll either continue our 4E game or our new Dresdenverse game. We're still learning Dresden, I'm a werewolf sort of like Billy from the book only older and part Native American. Our game is in LasVegas instead of Chicago.

Yep, that's what we call it too. And you can use any pie fruit or any cake mix.

I used it to get them interested in cast iron cooking.

Subject: Another dessert....

I use this with my scouts and I only do it in a cast iron Dutch Oven. It's incredibly easy with no mixing involved. Canned fruits are dumped into a baking pan, topped with cake mix, butter, and nuts, then baked. The result is something in between a cake and a cobbler, and amazingly delicious.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour
Total Time: 1 hour, 10 minutes
Ingredients:

1 (21 ounces) can prepared more fruit cherry pie filling
1 (18.25 ounces) box chocolate cake mix
2 sticks of butter or margarine, each cut into 12 slices
1/4 cup chopped nuts (your choice - optional)

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (325 for glass baking dish). Have a 9 by 13-inch baking pan ready.

Dump cherry pie filling in Dutch Oven, baking dish or pan and spread it out evenly.

Sprinkle the cake mix evenly over the cherry.

Cut butter into slices with a butter knife and place slices evenly over cake mix.

Sprinkle nuts on top if you're using them.

Bake for one hour. Use heavy oven mitts to remove the dump cake from oven or let your older helper do it.

To serve, scoop cake out with a large spoon like a cobbler, and dump it on a nice plate. A scoop of vanilla ice cream is delicious with dump cake. Serve warm or cold.

Yield: about 10 to 12 servings

Note: For outdoor Dutch Oven cooking use charcoals, 14 on the top and 7 underneath. That gives about 325 -375 degrees depending on quality of charcoal.

Subject: Get a grip...........

With the Halfling Thief/Mage securely wrapped by three tentacles and held against the creature’s underbelly, Ulthok felt them starting to crush the life out of him as the floating brain started to move away.......

The pain was increasing as the creatures tentacles began to constrict tighter and tighter.
The sword Ulthok had pulled to defend himself was pinned to his side and useless as the ribbons of death laced around him. The hard beak was jammed against his chest and would soon puncture him allowing the vile floating menace to start to ingest him. Ulthok’s mind raced as he tried desperately to escape.

He needed to get away, run away, slip away. As Ulthok struggled, a secretion of the creature’s saliva began to ooze out over him. The wetness give one last desperate idea maybe he could “slip” away. Concentrating on the image of another vile creature the tiny mage cast a spell over himself and his body began to change.

His very life color changed to the nearly colorless clearness of water. The once hard muscular shape of the Halfling lost all definition as the colorless, shapeless form of Crystal Ooze replaced what once been the familiar site of Ulthok. Flowing the Ooze out and away from the beak Ulthok was trying to stay out of and away from the Creatures mouth.

(O.O.C.) Sorry I got carried away with the how I saw it working so now I'm pulling it out and just placing it here.

With no solid form to grasp the tentacles could not control the grip on the now flowing slippery mass that slid away and off the tentacles.

Dropping to the ground the pool of Ulthok Ooze gathered and flowed away from the floating brain to seek a safe place to heal and perhaps reform. Ulthok hoped the creature would give up on him as an "easy" catch and seek its meal elsewhere.

Better Boss

I popped on at lunch to see what's up on my games and VOTE for the Inn.

It's been a tough day, customer visit, had to hold two shipments for rework and Ulthok is brain food.

Oh well hope to post to Triology tonight or tomorrow. There doesn't seem to any "safe" thing to do to save him. But then gaming is never "safe".

Welcome Celeste and Phelan!

I tried taking Ulthok back to his roots and end up nearly plant food!

I've been trying to figure out what to do next ever since Tann's post that now has Ulthok as Brain Food. This is really been a challenge to figure out what to do now. I've been researching through my 2.0 books to help me get an idea. But I'm just going to give it my best shot.

With Ulthok about to pass out my next post may not be very long. If what I'm planning to try works the one after that will be longer, if it doesn't, well there may not be another post or at least until some kindly member raises the Halfling from the dead.

If Ulthok ever needed a natural 20 he needs it now!

Good you got my message, we'll both have to see what Tann does now for our next actions. I'm not sure either how much healing the potion will give. With the other healers on the attack and you at half hit points I didn't want to wait to see if you could heal yourself.

Now let's sic'um!

Way to go Skye, a Silver Dragon. Great minds and all that.
Ulthok was going to turn into a Silver Dragon, but it was going to take several scenes to get all the stuff done I wanted him to do. He was going help Sirene, change, fly over and help Haila, fly back and chomp on the brains but that was several scenes and I'm not sure if the chomping part would cause him damage from their blood. Sounded like it is toxic as it sprayed in other wounds and burned.

Well I still have some crazy ideas after Sirene is helped.

“Back this way, son. I’ve got some vittle’s left it the kitchen.” Dr.McGuire motion Asher toward the back of the house. Ash followed the doctor into a small kitchen. Opening the refrigeration storage unit the Doctor pulled out silver pitcher and placed it on the table. Quickly a frosty haze appeared on the pitchers surface as the moisture in the air condensed on the sides of the cold metal. Reaching back in the refrigerator Doctor also pulled platter of sliced meat and a container of cheese. Moving to the cupboard, a breadbox contained a loaf of sliced bread. Doctor place that on the kitchen table too. “It ain’t much son but you can chow down on that before you need to go do what you need to go do.” Grabbing the pitcher Asher poured himself a tall cold glass of smooth white liquid. Then piling a heap of meat and cheese between two slabs of bread Ash made a tasty meal. And just as quickly finished it off. The cold milk compliment the sandwich as the kid slugged down the glass full. With white rim over his upper lip the kid smiled up at Doc McGuire.
Pushing himself away from the kitchen table Ash took his dishes over and placed them in the sink. He returned to the room where Doc had saved his life and prepared to himself to even the score. In the practice routine Asher slid on his shoulder holsters and strapped his thigh holsters into position. Strap by strap, notch by notch the kid secured the tools with which he was most practice. Each pull and each snug reminded him of the duty he had to his boatmates and the score he had to settle with the person that had shot him in the back. Doc McGuire stood silently as he watched the gentle young man that was drinking milk in his kitchen turn into a strong cold weapon of justice. A chill rolled down Doc’s back as he saw the kid inspect each weapon of death with the same skill he used to check each of his tools of healing. The Python 6 GLs glistened as Ash slide them into their familiar places on each thigh. Next the twin PK 12 Peacekeepers were loaded, sited and nestled under his arms. Magazines of ammo were placed on the holsters straps for quick and easy access. The kid practice drawing each to be sure no time would be wasted when his girls were called to action. Doc was impressed with speed and skill the kid showed and knew he may be busy with ones the kid decided only needed to be taken out of the action, the ones that stood in his way weren’t going to need the Doc’s skills.
Ash slipped on his duster and the shoulder holster that carried his shotgun securely down his back. Grabbing his hat he turned to door, “It’s time to go, thank you, I’ll be returning to square things if I can.” Asher said as he looked at Doc McGuire. The doctor was amazed at the change, where there had been smiling, milk drinking young now stood a cold hard man.

“They’ll be coming for me soon, either mine or their’s, either way I’m ready.”

“Best you slip out the back door. I reacon your folk ‘ll be slipp’n in that way. You can watch from the shadows.” Doc stepped aside as Asher strode past him and headed out the back.

Slipping into the shadows Asher spent his time waiting for Wolf to appear by checking his tools. A communicator set to vibrate rested in the breast pocket of his duster. His combat knife was secure to his left ankle. The colt 22 slid in its belt holster in the small of his back. The SPAS30 Combat Shotgun hung ready from his shoulder. Even his utility pocket knife may mean the difference between life and death if the circumstances were right. But nestled in his hip pocket were those familiar little metal pieces. Asher hated to hurt a woman but there is curtain back shoot'n bitch that he'd very much like to introduce to those brass knuckles.

Patiently he waited listening for the sounds of Roc's mule approaching in the darkness.

Still mumbled from sleep, the stun of his magic turned back against him catches Ulthok off guard. The pain of his own missiles slamming back into him shakes him and knocks him off balance. The pain rages through him and his reactions are slow. As he tries to regain focus he see Sirene suffer much the same as a fiery blast turns back on her , knocking her down and burning her severely. Ulthok heart leaps into his throat as the Enchantress crumbles to the ground. Drawing his sword to defend her from further attack he scrambles to her side. Seeing that she is weakened and stunned he pulls a potion of healing from his pack and offers it up to her lips. Sirene had followed him when the others had doubted. Her trust can not be ignored. But there was something more that pulled at the halfling's heart.

These companions had saved his life and he was not going to let any fall from this attack if he could help it.

Well what Tann told me didn't quite fit the plan I was working. I have to regroup and try again. Sorry for the business reference, what can I say I've been stuck in that buzz word place for a long time.

I was thinking of dropping back and giving Sireren a potion of healing to help her get back in the battle. It looks like we need direct arms combat to attack these floating creeps.

I was going to ploymorph into a Silver Dragon and chomp these vile Grellish things. But it seems there is a bit of a problem doing that.

So now I have been drinking heavily all day so there may be some really interesting stuff written. Let's see what the combination of beer and Bloody Mary's does to a weak and simple mind.

These seem a Hybred of Grell and Beholders. Some kind of magic users and poison tenticles.

Brutal had pull the car off the edge, just far enough to be slightly hidden but not so far that it would become mired in the mud. All the others seemed to be glad to use the German weapons but Doc was glad to keep his M1. Popping the trunk of the car Jack grabbed what was going to be useful. The Captain had left his M1 so Doc strapped on his ammo belt too, each held five two clip pouches each. A last scan spotted the Captain's grenade, he added it to his own. Before closing the trunk Jack pulled out his pack and slung it on.

Doc cautiously fell in with team, following the early "suggestion" from sarge he closed in behind the Captain.
