Well you are one busy bugger. Thanks for all the info and welcome to the Inn. If and when you get a chance, stop back and relax with the rest of the Innmates.

And there's a large frosty mug of "Good Old Froth-n-Slosh" waiting for you at the DragonChat Lounge in the DragonChat chat room.

Hope to see around!

Subject: Sad Indeed......

I don't know if there is a problem, but it's been so long I'm just guessing it's "Game Over". I've had one DM quit a game because of RL and then Jozan1 just let one die. So I'm just going to move forward with other games. Too bad, I passed up a couple other game chances to stay in this one.

Subject: Cold War.......

The fire continued to spread across their path and the acidic smoke was now rising to the shelf where the other party members had lingered. The flames were not moving so much into the jungle as they were along the edge in front of them. Conell, Cynil and Rayne had now come to add their support to rescue Sirene. Ulthol knew his actions had put his allies in danger, not at all what he had intended. His fear of hurting his friends with magic had just manifested itself in a different form. If the fire continued to burn the acid smoke would slowly but surely take its toll on the party. He only had one spell that might help save his friends from further harm. If he remove the heat from the fire it should die out.
“Friends!!!!,” Ulthok shouted, “Back against the wall and get down low, I’ve started this mess and I’ve got to try to stop it. If I can set a cold blast across the fire front it may stop the burning. “
Ulthok rushed to the near side of the advancing fire. He reached into the simple pouch that hung from his belt. He stopped and turned so he could face along the front edge of the strange fire. Raising his hands a glint of light sparkled off what appeared to be a small shard glass setting in his palm. Oh please let this work, he thought as he called out, “Winter’s Freeze”. The shard began to glow and from his hands emanated a growing cone of freezing cold that rushed along edge of the jungle encompassing the flames and burning plants.

(When this spell is cast, it causes a cone-shaped area of extreme cold, originating at the wizard's hand and extending outward in a cone 5 feet long and 1 foot in diameter per level of the caster. It drains heat and causes 1d4+1 points of damage per level of experience of the wizard. For example, a 10th-level wizard would cast a cone of cold 10 feet in diameter and 50 feet long, causing 10d4+10 points of damage. Its material component is a crystal or glass cone of very small size.)

Subject: Did I Do That!!!!!!!

Well no one seems to have a spell to Quench Fire prepared so the closest one left is the Cone of Cold to take the heat away and stop the fire. If I understand Tann's explanation it sounds like the fire is spreading across in front of us and not so much back into the jungle. If the group pulls back against the wall Ulthok can go to one side of the fire and cast Cone of Cold along the perimeter. That should catch it. Sirene is back a ways and underground so she should be safe.

Any better ideas? Maybe toss the spiders off the ledge and let them squish the fire?

Tann did anyone even tell you that you were evil?

If you can't find something that already exists try writing your own and then run it past your DM and see if they will allow it. He may make it so you need to justify gaining something new by doing a special quest or visit an old wise guy, lol.

Ooops, welcome to the Inn. Stop by the DragonChat Lounge for a big frosty mug of "Good Old Froth-n-Slosh".

Pop over to "Comings and Goings" and give yourself an intro.

BTW, free fluffy towels at the end of the bar. You'll find a use for it later, lol.

To Ulthok’s surprise he saw Kenji actually draw his sword and with a flourish prepared to charge into the flame and smoke. The Samurai seemed to miss his joke. As he approached the jungle’s edge Kenji called “LADY SIRENE!”.

From behind the spreading crackling flame and ominous billowing smoke Sirene shouted back “STAY BACK, I WILL TRY TO MORPH INTO A GROUNDHOG AND USE THE UNDERGROUND TO GET TO YOU GUYS! GET AWAY FROM THE FIRE AS FAR BACK AS YOU CAN TO KEEP FROM THE FUMES” .

Then Alasdair in his heroic zeal rushed past them head long into the acid smoke. As he plunged into the fry hacking at the now dying vines Ulthok jumped up shouting to him, “Whoa there big fella, don’t go adding to mess that has already been created. Come back so we attempt to extinguish that flame. It’s now the smoke that is your greater danger; your skilled sword and Paladin’s magic won’t protect you from it. Perhaps we can pull the heat from that flame and freeze those nasty vines. Haila and I can both cast a Cone of Cold, but I would hate to see you frost bitten in the middle of a roaring fire. Great Sir you need to get back here and stay low under the smoke. Come share a benefit of being a Little One.”

As he waits for the brave Paladin protector to return Ulthok prepares to cast Cone of Cold.

Subject: Inquirering minds want to know.........

Then more questions.

Is the smoke acting normally and rising so there is better air close to the ground?

Are there still groping plants blocking our rescue of Sirene?

Has the fire cleared a space or path into the jungle?

If there is a cleared space, how far into the jungle, how wide is it, how high is it and can the groping plants still reach into the path if someone goes through?

Is the space filled with fire and smoke?

Can we tell now how far Sirene is from us since she has answered Kenji's call?

Can we see Sirene through the fire?

A wave of satisfaction wash over Ulthok as the plants started burning from the flames that shot from the Bards and his hands. Suddenly a flame and acid smoke back draft crashed back over the Halfling. The virtuosity of the blast flung him painfully tumbling back against the cavern wall. Landing with a thud the thief lay motionless. He felt the sting on his face and arms from the acid smoke, his ears rung and his head throbbed. Slowly he opened his eyes as he raised up to a sitting position. Staring across the walkway he saw Maggot and Kenji standing a few feet away, both singed and with small tendrils of smoke rising from spots on their clothes. Ulthok let out an uproarious laugh.

“Well Uncle Trapspringer would be proud of that one. Well met there Bard, that went perfectly to plan! Now that we’ve opened the path to Sirene we need to go to her. Draw your swords and I’ll be right behind you.”

(OOC: Ok, I've edited it,you're not swatting anymore.

If our "burning Hands" do some damage then maybe I can follow it with "Cone of Cold" and freeze the plants. The cone can reach 50 feet into the jungle and that should give us a path to go in after Sirene.

"Either way little one, I still suggest you and the rest of us take some rest before traipsing off into the jungle. This might be our last chance to do so."

Ulthok heard the Paladin once again address him as a child. How many times have these brave warriors sent the “Little One” to lead and now they are too tired to continue.

It was enough to spur him on down the walkway.

From behind him Ulthok was surprised to hear a sultry feminine voice.

“Hold a moment Ulthok so that I may gather my things and I shall accompany you” spoke the enchantress Sirene.

This was followed by the distinctive voice of the bard.

“Someone has to go chaperone those two.”

With that the bard joined them and three walked to the edge of the jungle.

Before the three could plan thick vines blindly lashed out.

Diving to the ground the three tried to dodge the vines.

Ulthok dropped and rolled just quickly enough to be missed by the vines. As he regained his feet he saw Maggot also roll clear, but the scream over head brought his attention up just in time to see Sirene, wrapped in the vines, being flung into the jungle.

Anger swelled up in Ulthok.
Standing at the edge of vines, he stretched his arms out in front of him, hands level and thumbs touching. Calling up the spell of “Burning Hands”.

He shouted, “Burn you”, as he attempted to cut down the vines , hopefully hurting it enough to free Sirene with the fiery arc that blasted from his fingers.

(OOC: If Ulthok and Magget are successful in burning the vines into retreat and no other party member rushes through into the jungle, he plans to cast another spell or bound 30 feet into the jungle after Sirene.)

As Brutal drove up Jack swore he saw him smirk as Doc's guns hit the dirt.

That cruel look in the Corporal's eye sent it's message loud and clear. "Doc's defenseless"!

Doc narrowed his eyes and smirked back.

"Sorry baldy, but you just lost your chance."

With that Doc slipped off his jacket and put his sweet 45's back on crisscrossed his chest.
Adjusting the belt length so they hung neatly along his ribcage.

Opening his pack he took the German pistols he had taken from the farm house, nesting one under his shirt in his waste band in the small of his back.

Taking his combat knife he made slit in the lining of his jacket just below the neck, he was able to slip the pistol in the hole, when he put the jacket back on it sat there at the ready.

Now if he had to place his hands behind his head he'd stand a chance to get the drop on his captors.

Doc took the arm band back off and put it back in his pocket.
He lifted the medic kit and stung it over his should so the Red Cross was easily visible.

"Let'um jump to their own conclusions."
