John still had some time before he needed to turn in. To help sort out the event he needed more information. The official channels had everything in order and to regulation but there is always more and it never hurt to ask for help.

Signing on to the communications council he tapped out a not nearly used enough number.

It took a moment or so but then the familiar native America face of Ensign Jay Silverheels filled the screen. “Yo, Kemosabe how’s it hanging? I was starting to wonder when you’d call?

“Sorry, Crazy…. It’s just been pretty quiet out here, nothing much to shear. The pirates just seemed to backup and leave. I’ve spent most of the time taking TAC classes. “

“Hey that’s pretty dull after your little sortie on Moropa.”

“Well that’s just being in the right place at the right time.”

“Hey man, we know better than that……… So why did you really call me?”

“Never could get much past you.”

“Hey..that’s why they keep me here at Command.”

John smirked, “Wellllllllll….now that you mention it.”

With that Jay let out a rolling laugh. “Ok Kemo what’s the real deal?”

John rolled out the events of the last 24 hour and the speculations. “Jay, it would be great if there was a way to find out who might be on Captain Drakes case. Hell it might even be someone on Jacob’s case and using us to get to him.”

“So you want me to risk my career by snooping into brass politics?”

“Yeah, pretty much…so when you find something send me smoke signal?”

“You’re pushing it there buddy boy…but we’ll see....You keep your head down.”

“Thanks Jay. Later.”

“Later.”

The party had only travel down the fountain hall for short time when they came to the end. The situation had changed, there were now some steps up and not just the old doorway. Entering the space it was obvious that this was not the fountain room. A much more vast space filled with decaying rows of tables filled the space on either side and raise dais at the far end.

“Well there you go. We should better by now that we can’t plan ahead.” As they ventured into the room the group once again conducted a careful search. On the raised section at the front of the was odd seat; a large throne like thing made of bone and…..teeth. A round liking object was sitting obscured on the seat. But behind was brightly colored tapestry of a dangerous looking serpent with arms, looking nearly new compared to the decrepit aging for the furniture.

Moving to the foot of the dais Ulthok peered at the items. “Oh that can’t be a good sign.” Carefully watching where he stepped Ulthok walked along the edge of the dais, examining the steps up up and the floor for triggers and traps.
Sensing Ulthok trepidation Peri took flight from his shoulder winked out of sight as she flew up over the dais to closer inspect the chair and tapestry without touching or disturbing them. She would let her group know what things appeared to be before they ventured up to inspect the seat more closely.

(OOC. Peri will stay invisible in hopes of not having any attracted to her. She will examine the chair, round thing and tapestry. Then fly back to Ulthok to report her findings.)

Are personnel allowed to use communication channels for personal calls like using "Facetime"? Or does that have to be like email? Can there real time messaging?

I would assume they are not private or secure.

I guess it is just me getting use to free form. I'm only limiting myself so to staying deep in the structure.

I did have fun with the "Love Boat" segment and was intending to work with BooBoo on a Nurse encounter. But as thing got quiet that sort fizzled. Now I've got John's dark side starting to surface and I was thinking a bit deeply on that.

Time to kick it and let loose. For some reason I keep picturing "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" meets "The Green Hornet".

Any of you remember Dobie Gillis?

John finalized the report summary for Lt. Berk to submit to Captain Drake. The cascade of events seemed just too much to be coincidence. There was just too much wrong with this actions.

As Berk took the PADD and headed to report their findings to the Captain John headed back to his quarters. There had been tension between himself and his new CO but now Berks words hung in his thoughts. “I'm not in the business of throwing subordinates under the bus for personal gain. It was part of his upbringing to give trust to the trustworthy and Lt. Berk had shown himself to be worthy.

The door whoosed close behind him as he stepped into his room. The events of the day weighed on his mind. He had sworn to uphold the ideals of Starfleet and to promote the rules of Justice throughout their dealings. But now someone was turning those rules to injustice and likely for personal reasons. Something needed to be done but John had no hard facts to work on.

From the dresser drawer the young security officer removed the familiar cloth pouch. Holding it often helped him clear his thought, to separate anger and think logically. The heirloom defined to him meaning of Justice. Laws are written to bring calm from chaos. But it is through the use of those laws to that justice is served. He had to remember the true meaning of Justice: the maintenance or administration of what is just especially by the impartial adjustment of conflicting claims or the assignment of merited rewards or punishments.

Sliding the crystal clear form from the cloth John gazed at the Silver 45 caliber bullet encased inside. The words from one of the line of the family creed spoke to him, “I believe that all things change but truth, and that truth alone, lives on forever. John now understood that he must do his best to find the truth of what was happening to his Captain and his ship.

Seems each year the different sites list the choices in different manners.

My first game choice post was just a cut and paste from site and not necessarily the best.

BTW I am giving you all an edge. As usual as a true FAN I will always pick Cleveland and never pick Baltimore.

Being a second fiddle guy I have been slacking a bit. And my side story has not delevloped.I have a germ of an idea with John and how he sees "Justice". But it hasn't clicked yet. Right now Lt. Reid sees Captain Drake as the "wronged" party and he looking to make it right.

Well either would be ok, but neither is really what I know to make up story.

Seems that they both have fighter types and maybe the Scifi would fit better.

But I watched The Man From UNCLE when it was the TV series so maybe I could create a Napoleon Ody.

I think Lothor bounding up the dais, grabbing the round thing and plopping down on throne is a great idea! "Look at me..I'm the King!!!"

But hey if he wants to toss his axe... well have at that.

I happen to like solving problem without dyeing.

But..yeah we've had some cool battles too.

Mathias folded his hands on his desk, showing a somewhat tired smile, "I can hardly blame you for not catching something that I missed as well, besides I'm not in the business of throwing subordinates under the bus for personal gain. I'll have a word with our new transfers and any on duty staff that may have seen something if you can compile any relevant security and transfer logs for me. I'll complete the report and present our findings to the captain. Other than that you needn't worry about anything, who ever did this was counting on the somewhat chaotic environment aboard the ship as cover and it worked, we just need to pick up the pieces now."

"I appreciate that sir." John nodded back to Berk. Then as they watched the screen another transfer name appeared.

"Well it looks like the hits just keep on coming." As they watched the transfer record of a replacement for Ensign Agris scrolled in.

"Looks like we now have an Ensign William Mathews reporting for duty.... I'll get you his bio report. Shall I call him to report here now so you interview him?"

John's finger danced over the screen as he set Ensign Mathews files to Lt. Berks PADD.

Well Tann will also do hybrids of monsters just for this game, sort of home rules stuff. I say we do the search thing first. Tossing the axe at the tap is a bit rash, but hey we never know. Before careful about touching things, look but don't touch.

The throne is an obvious trigger but just stepping on the dais might trigger something.

did anyone look up Salamander?

Topic: Trilogy War Q/A
Subject: Oh Geeze..........

Well it's not like things go as planned in this game. So we now know that the magic of tower has some other strange effects.

Earlier we detected that the magic strength was beneath the main room and so far we hadn't found a way to travel lower in the tower. My guess is we need to fight out each room to reveal new rooms that may lead us to the next level.

We sensed a change so we can use that feeling to let us know there may be a new room.

My guess for this room is that the round thing on the throne is the trigger like the cages seemed to be the trigger in the statue room.

Welcome Brenn, we need the healer powers and Roan has some cool abilities and stuff. Playing an existing character isn't too bad, I took over Ulthok and made him my own. Just back read some to where we all meet in the last chapter to get a feel of what he has done so far but then play him as you see fit.

We use the Q&A a bit more here than in some games to coordinate our ideas and plan party actions. New eyes and ideas are welcome. Tann throws high level stuff at us because we have high level characters so expect unusual situations that require creative solutions. Read your character sheet to find all the goodies Roan has, they may be needed. Know that Tann uses all the 2.0 books, not just the DMG, PH and MM.

So ask question, give insight and have fun.

We agree on going to the fountain room but no so what to do and how to do it.

So I recommend that we let Lothor set the the play in action. Since he was most apprehensive of magic but always believed in luck he could feel a wishing well could help the party and takes his action first.

We then follow his lead or Tann's action on his lead.

Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine - CTO’s Office – 1250

“Good afternoon Mister Reid” Berk gestured toward his now open office door.

“Sir.” John took Berk’s gesture and stepped into the CTO’s office.

Mathias followed the Lieutenant into the office, the doors swishing faintly behind him as they closed and made for his desk, as he walked he motioned to the other seat, opposite his, on the other side of the desk, “Have a seat, Lieutenant.”

John could sense the tension in Lt. Berk’s voice and manner. John understood the subtleties of body language and took the seat directly in front Berk’s desk. He knew this would put Lt. Berk in the superior position and perhaps more at ease.

“Mister Reid we have a problem, someone has gone behind the Captain’s back and mine in the arrest of Lt. Tesenblen, and now the Captain, understandably, wants answers, and so do I. I want to know who authorized Starbase security’s spiriting away of the Peregrine’s CSO? I need a list of all of our new transfers, for all departments, but more specifically, anyone with security authorizations. Lastly I need a list of all on duty security personnel at the time of Tesenblen’s arrest, I would like to interview them all.”

“Sir, I am guessing that you hadn’t had time to see the transfer summery I posted to your bridge report. I had summarized the transfer and added the my comments on possible security risks but there was very little there on the Senior Officers and only few crew, mostly nurses.”

“I would hope that one of our own isn’t willing to throw our captain under the bus, I hope that someone had their arm twisted, or that Commander Jennings’ men came aboard through some other sort of subterfuge.”

“If this was orchestrated to undermine Captain Drake then they wouldn’t do anything that alert us, but would cover themselves by just staying in regulation. We’d better check that transfer list again.”

“Well then, I’d like to have a report for the Captain put together by the time we’re underway, we should both get to work.” Mathias finished standing up as he spoke.

“Let’s check the transfer list again.” Reid stepped the Comm and punched in his security code then accessed the transfer list. As the screen scrolled to names of personnel transferred on and off the Peregrine John let a low whistle. “Well there are a few new names here that weren’t there fifteen minutes ago when I filed my report to you. It appears three of our security crew had last minute transfers off the boat. Crewman Sinatra and Waddle were assigned the Starbase 118 and were replaced by Rotet and Domms. But look at this, Ensign Thorn Agris was assigned to the Coronado. ….. I’ll bet you dimes to donuts there’s where the security team got their access and clearance to the Science section. You and I were preparing for the Ambassadors and Ensign Blackmon was preparing to man the security station on the bridge. Agris was the only security officer not otherwise assigned. He was ambitious but seemed a bit impatient to work his way through the line. I had just chalked it up to immaturity.”

John stepped aside to let Lt. Berk view the screen. “Sir, I’m sorry…….. when Lt. Rockatansky was transferred out he warned me to watch the transfer onto Peregrine but I didn’t consider that there may be trouble brewing within. I’d say we need to interview Rotet and Domms but my guess is they were pawns just to make to make these transfers look less suspicious. If you agree I’ll start the report for Captain and have these finding ready for you to present in just few minutes….Sir, being I failed to catch this I’m prepared to face Captain Drake as you see fit.”

John had barely gotten his report sent when Lt Berk’s voice came across the comm.

=/= "Berk to Reid, meet me in my office immediately, we need to talk."=/=

“Aye sir, I’m on my way.” John replied to his CO.

John could tell by Berk’s tone that something was up. Having spent time with the Senior Staff Berk would know what was going on with all these changes and could shed some light on the arrest of LT. Tesenblen. John could only suspect that because of their short time together that Berk had not built the trust to inform him of arrest in case he feared John might warn the Science officer. Having both himself and Berk at Ambassador’s arrival allowed the Starbase security team to board without his involvement.

Making his way to the level five security section John waited outside the CTO’s office for Lt. Berk to arrive.
