Subject: Jonah "Pops" Hicks...............

Ok, I am thinking of playing a more age appropreate character.  This could be a first officer type but a grumpy one.

Pops is in his late 50s to early 60s. Likely a retired Alliance Officer, been retire 10 years before the war running his own business suttling people. He somehow got his hands on one of first Knorr class transport prototypes which he flew through the end of the war.

Pops has varied background. He can fly, cook, open locks, fix computer, hack programs and other unexpected skills. He says he was too old to be a Browncoat, but he seems to have been in a lot of places when someone was needed on the QT.

It's a start....thinking deeper into him.

I'm not locked in to this was just to show an older person. I think Roger used this in another episode so I my find something else. I want him to be "forgettable", someone that seemed to blend into the crowd or someone you want to forget. Could be "ugly as sin". He acts like he doesn't like being called "Pops", but it works to keep him anonymous.

He may seem as if he's had special Alliance training, could be a retired Alliance officer, but there seems to be no records. He may have had a suttle service before the war. During the war he still was a "taxi" for thoses that needed to be places. Folks wondered how he seemed to be ignored by the Alliance, but then he was just a "taxi".

Ok still working on idea to help me work on ideas.

Silent...if you go look at the Destiny game there was female Doc as a npc. It might give you a base to build a character. In our WW2 horror game there was a cool female fighter that might spark some ideas.

This is coming at a good time. My health is getting better and my job stress has really gotten better with my job change. I feel I am starting to be able to story think again. Playing Jon was interesting, it was a challenging stretch for me. You were such a help by giving me good stuff to build on.

I've had two thoughts...I liked the idea a "Jon" character but as the co- captain / pilot. Never really thought of him as the "face" but it could work. An ex- officer / pilot, a new build and background.

The other thought was sort of building a "Doc" framing from our WW2 horror game character. A healer that's not afraid to kill.

I like the two week posting time. Gives me time to over think

The small mage had started to turn to Valene, when he heard Sirnen, “Wait”.

With that the Enchantress accepted the bond; then the two combined the magic of Fairie to save Peri. . slowly all could see a stream of white magical energy start to flow from amulet to body. Then almost without warning Peri’s body start to shake as if having a seizure but quickly those stop leaving Peri breathing and with her essence once more intact. Ulthok's mind started to swirl as the mental presents of his dear companion grew. He sense her once more and now he understood her fear and joy she must have felt when he had died. Few times in his life had joy entered his heart and he savored this feeling now. Then the odd voice of the new small dragon could be heard, “Halfling, she will be ok. She just needs to rest, give her time to do so and she will be herself once more. Now, introductions are in order. I am known by my full name among the elder Faery Dragons as Califragalistic XP’Alidous, but I'm better known as, Frag……."

"Well met and bonded, Frag," Siréne replied, "I am Siréne Ta'alah, heir and daughter of the daughter of Mnemosyne the Faerie Queen." A twinkle danced in the witch's eye and she laughed, "but I will never sit on that proverbial throne. Perhaps you already knew all this, perhaps not?"

Frag's eyes glimmered with a mischeifous light, "Perhaps time will tell."

Facing Ulthok Sirene gently spoke, "She is already returning to us. Much as it fills me with joy to be so close to my home, I fear my return is not yet ordained. There is still work to be done. Come, let us follow the silver path and return to Craggion Core."

Ulthok kelt next to Peri and lifted the amulet and once again hung it around his neck. Then lifted Peri and cradeled her in his arms. Raising he reached out and clasped Valene's hand. "Thank you one and all, let us hurry back I have an apple pie to bake."

I hope I am not offending anyone by my observations. I am just starting to get back in the game. I don't mean to tell anyone how to play their characters. I tend to research stuff, that helps me envision what is going on. I am just sharing what I think I am seeing.

I have been sort of out of it for a while dealing with minor health issues and meds. I think the meds affected my thinking and writing. I just changed meds last week and it seems I am having more interest in the story again.

If I am over stepping let me know.

It looks to me you get 2 attacks per round with your +5 dagger. So be sure to attempt to poke it twice.

When it is down and the other appears if you can switch to your Great Sword of Wounding you get two attacks and can do more damage per attack. Plus it takes on going damage and can't regenerate from those attacks.

I'd you all will know when you've done them in by the rats giving up and fleeing.

and with Tann's Home Brew rules he likely gave the Imps an extra hit dice, maybe even two.

But I'd think he would drop a clue if he'd doulbed the hit die. They should appear nastier to warrent that. so that said they could be 24 to 32 hit points each. So a dagger does 1d4+8 it will take several stabs to do it in.

Tann..If the Ranger used both Rapiers did he get two attacks with the +3 and one with the +2 and if the +2 hit didn't stun the Imp so it should be able to vanish??? (my meds must be wareing off and I've started rresearching again.)

Subject: Imp hit points......

Dragonsoul...the Imp is hurt but not likely dead. But if it took enough damage it would leave this plane and return to it's plane. Stay allert and attack any Imp visible. There are three to dispatch..

that said the book says Imps have a max hit points of 18.  (2+2, which means 2d8+2 or max of 16+2=18  )

so maybe yes that Imp has been sent back to its plane.

Tann am I right that its max 18?

Subject: What'cha Go'na do????

Silentone...combat is never this case the party is being attacked by two types of enemies. So ponder which you feel is the most important for Ray to attack, Imps or rats. Now we saw that Ray was effective with the flame blade against the hord, do you think she needs to continue to protect the other party members while they destroy the Imps or help to destroy the Imp so that the hord will then disperse. The rats are slowed but they are still coming. It will take a couple of more rounds to defeat the Imps.

So as I said it isn't simple, but if Ray goes after the Imps she needs to use silver or + magic melee weapons so she would have to release the flame blade spell.

The bear could help some with the swarm of rats with three attackes of claw, claw ,bite but itwill  take damage as they swarm over it. Depending on how Tann rolls it the claw hits might take out several rats at a time.

What does your gut tell you?

Subject: Sunblade....

Silentone..your sunblade gives you 5 attacks every two rounds. So you can use the flame blade on the data but should switch to the sunblade to attack the Imp. Your first attack would be just one but the next round you get 5 attacks. Jack and slash that nasty Imp.

Nomad, use your +3 sword of wounding. You get 2 attacks against small for 1d10+8. The wounds don't heal and take an additional point damage each round. Use your luck to help hit. Chop those little buggers up. Go back to your character page and read about your sword. This is nearly prefect for killing Imps.

The wills of the fey are strong and faerie is never predictable. Ulthok watched and listened as this new creature refused the commitment that would save Peri's life, just as Sirene refused without the commitment. Ulthok was reeling with the thought of loss, but this newcomer had proposed another option.  If Ulthok would let him take Peri and the amulet back to their home there a circle of like kind could return Peri's essence from the amulet and restore her life. But who was this one, he calls Peri "Princess" and speaks of his love for her.

"Sir, I see that my hope of simple way to restore life to friend is anything but simple...... I cannot let a chance to save my companion go. If you two cannot save her here then even though I should know better I will give you my two most precious things. Just swear to me on your name that your will do everything you can to save Peri."

(assuming the fairie dragon does swear)

"Then make haste so you can return my Peri and my amulet back to me"

Subject: Memorial Day 2019.....

Memorial Day 2019:

Saturday I attended the 20th grave decorating day at Western Reserve National Cemetery to honor and respect the final resting place for many of those that have served in this nation's Armed Forces. As I have said before I am now one of only two people (the last volunteer, the other is an American Legion member that helps organize the event) that have attended every memorial decoration ceremony since the cemetery was opened in 2000. I am blessed to still be able to attend and honor those who have served. This includes my father who had served in WWII and was interred here in 2003.

This year as a thank you to the volenteers a special gold pin was issued to commerate this 20th annual event.

As in the past after the memorial service the group of several hundred volunteers made up of Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and civic groups placed flags on about 40,000 grave sites.

A while back after I had posted I was reminded by some that Memorial Day is to remeber those that died in combat; that Veteren's Day is for honoring all who served and that Armed Forces Day is for those currently active.

I believe that given the chance we owe showing our gratitude to all who serve or served on this National day of recognition, including those of other countries that stand with and by us in times of great need.

I hope many of you will take a moment to remember and say "Thank You" to all those that served.

"Thank You."

Topic: Trilogy War Q/A
Subject: If you don't have a Monster Manual....

Imps are diminutive creatures of an evil nature who roam the world and act as familiars for lawful evil wizards and priests.

The average imp is a 2' humanoid with leathery, bat-like wings, a barbed tail, and sharp, twisted horns. Its skin is a dark red and its horns and jagged teeth are a gleaming white.

The imp can polymorph itself into two other animal forms. The most commonly encountered alternate forms are those of a large spider, raven, giant rat, or goat. In such forms the imp is physically identical to a normal animal.

Combat: In its natural form, the imp attacks with the wicked stinger on its tail. In addition to inflicting 1-4 points of damage, this stinger injects a powerful poison which is so deadly that those who fail their save versus poison are instantly slain by it. When it is polymorphed, the imp attacks with the natural weaponry of its adopted form, though the goat and raven forms lack damaging attacks.

The imp can use its special magical abilities no matter what its form. All imps are able to detect good, detect magic, or become invisible at will. Once per day they can use a suggestion.

Imps are immune to attacks based on cold, fire, or electricity and resist all other spell attacks as if they were 7 Hit Die creatures. They can be harmed only by silver or magical weapons and are able to regenerate one hit point per melee round.

Habitat/Society: Imps are beings of a very evil nature who originate on the darkest of evil planes. Their main purpose on the Prime Material plane is to spread evil by assisting lawful evil wizards and priests. When such a person is judged worthy of an imp's service, the imp comes in answer to a find familiar spell.

Once they have contacted their new ``master``, imps begin at once to take control of his actions. Although imps maintain the illusion that the summoner is in charge, the actual relationship is closer to that of a workman (the imp) and his tools (the master).

Although an imp's body can be destroyed on the Prime Material plane, it is not so easily slain. When its physical form is lost, its corrupt spirit instantly returns to its home plane where it is reformed and, after a time, returned to our world to resume its work.

While they are technically in the service of their master, imps retain a basic independence and ambition to become more powerful someday. They may acquire treasure from those they slay, and will often pilfer valuables encountered during their travels.

The imp confers some of its powers upon its master. A telepathic link connects the two whenever they are within one mile of each other. This enables the master to receive all of the imp's sensory impressions, including its infravision. The master also gains the imp's inherent 25% magical resistance and is able to regenerate just as the imp does. If the imp is within telepathic range, the master acts as if he were one level higher than he actually is. Conversely, if the imp is more than a mile away, the master acts as if he were one level of ability below his actual rank. If the imp is killed, the master instantly drops by four levels, though these can be regained in the usual manner.

Ecology: Imps are the errand boys of the powerful evil beings who command the darkest planes. They often act as emissaries and agents, but their primary task is to enhance the spread of evil in our world.

Subject: Take out the Imp quickly.....

Well I'd say all out attack on the imp in imp form, kill it quick. That tail stinger is deadly poison if you fail your saving throw. Silver and magic weapons, also it can heal one damage point per round. Pin coushon that bugger with + arrows and slice and dice it with + swords and throwing + axes. If you don't have +1 or better magic arrows  don't even waste them. The others attack as giant rats so it bites and claws, so you follow up on them next. All the little rats should flee once the imps are dead.

BTW hot and cold magic spells don't effect them.

Also the action of a character can negate your action. Say two characters attack the same enemy, if the first one killed it then the second one's action had no effect. It is all chance and the roll of the dice.

Also if the enemy has first inituitive it could change things, say it vanished then niether attacker stand a good chance of hitting it.

It just turned invisible and didn't move then shots into the space where it was last seem might hit, again it is all in the rolls.

so post what you feel your character would do and hope for a good roll.

Subject: POV and Order of combat....

These combat sequences happen quickly. Each character is reacting pretty much at the same time as it is their "point of view". We don't have to wait for other to post to determine our action but we can. As for the sequence that thing really happen well that is where Tann comes in. He will roll intuitive for all characters and enemies then roll how the posted action worked. Read what Tann post and work off of that. In the last round you can figure Intuitive from his post, The rats acted first by swarming the guards, Cor acted next with the snakes, Arandur was next by trying to talk to the rats which didn't work. Rayden was next and shouted the warning of the big rats. Lothor was next hearing the warning shot the middle big rat, made a good hit and exposed it as an Imp. Last to act are the big rats. The one Lothor hit which then vanished and the other two two moving apart . So to me that is your combat sequence.

Small rats
Big Rats
Now if the Bear is written to attack then Tann will role intuitive for it and insert it in the order.

Now each combat round will follow this order.

Don't confuse posting order with combat order.

Does this help?

Silentone, is your character attaching the giant to her left or right? Is Brutus attacking the same rat?

If Brutus attacks first he could got shot by mistake. Hope for a good dice roll.

Clarity in describing the battle helps all writers as if they see through their character's eyes and react accordingly. Few details leave things up the Tann to interpreter and it may not be as we envision in our mind when we write our section.
