The party left the library and continued along the hall finally coming to an iron door, a locked iron door. It seemed to the thief that there must be something important in that room if it required the door to be locked. Although the mechanism look different than any he had seen before, a lock was a lock and it needed to be picked. The tumblers and actions did not respond to his experienced touch. So in a bit he turned to the party to shrug.

That was when Weaver came forward to try. Ulthok had not remember the bard being skilled with locks but lent him his tool and watch as the storyteller fumbled along.

Ulthok leans in over Weaver’s shoulder to watch and heard,”A little to the left… now flip that one, yes that will be a good burger.” Weaver looks back at Ulthok, ‘What?” the two exchange a smile.

It is then a soft female voice is heard from the group, "Men."

The bard stands and turns to the group, he then looks at Uthlok and simply says, “We should knock.”

Uthlok pauses and then agrees. "Of course!"

Knock, the mage hadn’t thought of that . The spell would open the door, but he had not prepared the spell. Weaver then turns to the door and raises his hand. Uthlok clears his throat. Weaver looks down and Uthlok shakes his head no.

Turning the party the Mage asked, “Has any of you prepared Knock?

In this game the clerics select there spells (prayers) and then spend time praying for each. If the cleric is devoted then it is likely the spells work.

How does the spell work? It could come in handy if we need an emergancy exit. But good idea, if the Knock fails we could try it next.

Ok, so we figure a way to get through the door.

I'm not sure just what Xin can do to help get through the door. He can save us by taking us to another plane, but other than that I don't remember. Check the writeup Tann did to review his powers. But that SAVE could be very important, maybe even needed at the escape so check deeper into it too.

I'll be writing for tomorrow so let's get ready ramble.

Also get Tann to explain Xin's ability in "etherealness".
I'm not sure I know what he meant by (as the Armor). I thought it was part of being able to shift planes and take people with him.

That's two in favor of opening the iron door, who else?

I'll post Ulthok asking if anyone thinks they can open the the door with a spell.

Then Sirene can do her thing and we're in.

But if you all want to go up the stair then we go.

I want to post soon.

(I don't see anyone having a clairvoyance spell ready either.)

Subject: Down In A Blaze Of Glory.............

Ma was bringing the shuttle around again when there was a small explosion from the ASREV. The Kid strained himself about to see the Shuttle and ASREV consumed by a green Fire that changed to red. Ash knew what that meant. “Nerve gas…. they was gonna use nerve gas on us.”. His thoght’s turned to Tess in the shuttle. The kid’s anger grew and a quick thought turning the shuttle against the Corvette crossed the kid’s mind. They could swing in on a blind spot and toss them EM’s in the tail section where engineering should be. That’d put their breeches in a bunch.

Cannon shot from below brought Asher back to reality. The leader was opening up with that big gun. Ma took defensive maneuvers. Three times the gun fired and after the second shot, the fuel alarm warning sounded.

The third shot torn through the hull like paper and Asher heard a distinct rip as his tether strap was torn near the bar. Asher grabbed hold so that the pitching of the little craft wouldn’t fling him out the hatch….If that wasn't enough, the shuttle alarm warning of a weapon system lock sounded as well.

“Gorram” the kid shouted, his plans of the glorious attack just turned to a desperate survival plan. “Ma take’r down quick… make it look like we been toasted so they don’t fire that missile.” Asher grabbed a smoke canister from his bandolier, wedging it into the framing just outside the hatch he pulled the pin.

“Let’s hope that makes it look worse…….. Try to land by some cover…if’n they don’t blow us to smithereens maybe we can stop the leak and get back to packing their shorts.”

The kid then let out a final burst from the Uzies emptying the clips on the men moving across the hull of Roc. Trish started pitching the craft away and Ash grabbed hold of the bulwark and held on as Trish brought it in on a dead stick landing, skidding across the ground behind some hilly stuffy wuffy.

(Added a little to the story to allow Ash one final attack before they go down. If they land safely..and if they can't stop the leak they will have to come back overland and continue the attack as best they can.)

Subject: Knock..Knock...

Nimu says Sirene has the knock spell ready. So do we want to try to get in the locked room or head UP the stairs. Up seems to be away from where we want to go.

I would like to see what is in the room, it's locked for reason.

So what do the rest of you think?

Here is the spell:
Knock
(Alteration)
Reversible
Range: 60 yds. Components: V
Duration: Special Casting Time: 1
Area of Effect: 10 sq. ft./level Saving Throw: None

The knock spell opens stuck, barred, locked, held, or wizard-locked doors. It opens
secret doors, as well as locked or trick-opening boxes or chests. It also loosens welds,
shackles, or chains. If used to open a wizard-locked door, the spell does not remove the
former spell, but simply suspends its functioning for one turn. In all other cases, it
permanently opens locks or welds--although the former could be closed and locked again
later. It does not raise barred gates or similar impediments (such as a portcullis), nor does
it affect ropes, vines, and the like. Note that the effect is limited by the area; a 3rd-level
wizard can cast a knock spell on a door of 30 square feet or less (for example, a standard
4-ft. x 7-ft. door). Each spell can undo up to two means of preventing egress through a
portal. Thus if a door is locked, barred, and held, or triple locked, opening it requires two
knock spells. In all cases, the location of the door or item must be known--the spell
cannot be used against a wall in hopes of discovering a secret door.
The reverse spell, lock, closes and locks a door or similar closure, provided there is a
physical mechanism. It does not create a weld, but it locks physically operated locking
mechanisms, set bars, and so on, up to two functions. It cannot affect a portcullis.

I was interpreting that she did the gas to get the ground troops even if it got us too. Thus leaving time for the Col. to arrive and save the day. But now I see it was her to not let the badies use it on us.

Well without the need to flee that puts the dream back on the table.

I can her Trish now. "It'll be like chasing Womp rats back in beggar's canyon."

Because Shuttles are so small they're harder to hit ..right?

Although I had a really cool movie moment going on in my head it may really be time for Plan D! "Run Away!"

With the nerve gas rolling out Wyatt and Haverlock should disengage, even with the big guy on them.

The shuttle is hit, losing fuel and getting a weapons lock they need to get away from the gas too.

Wolf needs to seal off the ship's air locks.

I see Asher sending a comm about the cloud of gas so all know it's coming.

I may still to write a "Dream" sequence on how Asher and Trish take out the Corvette, lol.

Well I do remember Catie talking about doing the cooking, soooooooooooooo it make sense that she hops to the galley to serve our guests, that's why her room is just out side so she can hear folks in there. Also a good way to get on Lil's good side. Offer what you think we have (you did do the shopping) and ask what she would like first. I'd hope the coffee would be on auto perk so it is ready and hot water for tea should be in urn for self service anytime.

Jon may be calling for room service, lol.

Subject: Asher And Boats.......

We have established that Ash reads about weapons and such.
He would not be detail knowledgeable on Corvettes but very likely read something about them because of the weapons used. He likes BIG toys. So he may not be able to recite everything, he'd know a bit about gun turrets locations and missile launch ports.

The shuttle is small enough to be hard to hit if coming in at blind area, but the weapons are big enough to dust it.

It would make a cool "Movie Moment" to have them drop the EMs and actually do some damage, but they have to be able to reach the Corvette to buzz it. Too bad it isn't in space where they might just look like debris from the hauler.

So got to work on a different "Big D*** Hero" way the help.

Hmmmm.... no rebreathers in the helmet.

Which of these are the Merc flying?

Grapnel Class Independant Picket Corvette
Ocula Class Electronic Warfare Corvette
The Victoria-Class Corvette

It helps to figure how or if to attack it.

These are pretty big and well armed. They just saw a shuttle take out the hualer so they may not let the shuttle even get close, soooooooooooo that's why Ash decided to swing back on the Merc troops.

The shuttle had turned enough that Ash got a good look at the troops that had dropped on and around Rocinante. Trish swung the little ship out and around to make an approach back. The kid opened him comm again to the crew.

“The team on the Roc are armored in combat style ballistic vests, helmets, magnetic boots and bearing sonic rifles with side arms. They seem to be led by a guy in a grey trench coat and carrying a big-ass handgun…. The team on the ground is also eleven with ten soldier like before without the boots…..The leader is a huge mutha of a man wearing a black trench coat and carrying a handgun in each hand…..best get set for unpleasentries.”

Shouting up Trish, “Ma can you swing in from behind the group on the boat? Them boots might make it hard for um ta turn and shoot us. Bank up and around and that should let me open fire on um. …. I’ll try to get that fella in the trench coat……We gotta hit run and keep us as small a target as possible.” The kid readied the Uzi as Ma brought’er in hot.

Hello......... Time to add the Ody welcome.
A really good place to start here is “Pit F(r)iend's epic guide to getting started for newbies.” That will help you figure out how to navigate the halls of the Inn.
To meet folks in real time pop into the DragonChat where I act as the current resident bar tender. We offer our very own "Good Old Froth-n-Slosh", the stale pale ale that is so light it has the foam on the bottom.
Just grab a mug off the shelf and draw a cold frosty one.

My assistant Igor is usually lurking around if I'm not there.

He never says anything, must have something to with having his tongue cut out by his last boss, that nasty bar tender over at the Angery Orc Bar & Grill.
I'll have him put out a plate of "Lady Fingers" in your honor.

Reminds me we need to have another "Ladies Night" and restock.

Anyway the “Posting Games” are great place to get to know folks and of course the DragonChat is our favorite lounge.

And here a soft fluffy towel.

So lurk or play, welcome to the Inn

“Well, Captain, I hate to break it to you, but last time, we got paid to deliver some wine and not to ask questions. And you remember how that ended. Personally speaking, I don’t really care about that girl, but ignorance isn’t bliss. I think we should try and learn as much as we can so we can be prepared for when trouble hits. I’d rather know what to expect then wait for them tell us when they think it’s convenient for them. As the saying goes: knowledge is power.”

Jon whirled on Grace,” Don’t you EVER think I’ve forgot what happened.. …I lost two good people..my ship. ….above all I’d thought I’d lost you…… We weren’t ignorant…..you’d check that cask …We all knew that we were taking a risk……The only thing we could have done was take it back. Is that what you want?..We take the Princess back to Badger?…That will keep you all safe…and we can safely deliver cow shit from then on…..Don’t you think I’ve haven’t already thought of doing just that?”

Breathing heavily Jon looked around the room, “I also know you ain’t here to be safe, but there ain’t no job or cargo worth more to me than you’all….So if you want to turn around I’ll do it….I ain’t saying we stop listening and watching but we ain’t ever go’na know everything. So we just keep doing the job we were hired to do and cover each other’s backs.”

Ulthok lead the party cautiously down the south corridor. Once again there were rooms along the way that needed to be checked. The first door was unlocked with no traps. Stepping in the torch light revealed a nice sized library. Most of the books were clearly dust covered and old, many a cover faded. A faint tendril of magic could be felt.

As the party caught up him Roan and Alyia stepped past the Halfling and started to examine the tomes. “Be careful,” the theif warned. “There is a trace of magic among the books that may be a warding….Evil will steal the secrets of others to turn to their use, but grudging does it make that knowledge available to others.” As the party filed into the room Ulthok drew his sword and stood guard at the door.

I have two options ideas for Asher and Trish:

A: Do a little annoying buzz of the Corvette to drop the EM's and possibly mess up its systems.

B: Do a swing back over the Roc to bombard the troops on and around the ship.

Here's your one time chance to pick the option!

Of course there is option C: To go see if Tess needs help or D: to "Run Away"!!!
