Topic: My Complete Conversion Homebrew Campaign (WIP, P.E.A.C.H.)
Subject: Hmmmm....

I'd like to respond, but I'm not sure where to start! Homebrews can be vast, beastly things, or small tweaks to a current system.

I guess I better show my ignorance and ask... what is WIP P.E.A.C.H. ?

Pseudo-magic looks fun. Have you thought about a combat system?

Subject: what I am getting at

I mean playing yourselves. If that means that you've got an unnatural skill in survival, then you put points into it. (I would have to decide on a system. I'll get back to you on that later). If that means that you are a normal gamer who has the weirdest thoughts in the planet, then we can flesh out your skills accordingly!

For example: If I were to evaluate myself honestly and put it into stats (again, haven’t decided on a system, so we’ll just go with a 3.5 perspective) I, Celeste, would have:
Str 10
Con 12
Dex 17
Wis 15
Int 13
Cha 11
I would have skills in leatherworking (because it’s honestly my profession), swimming, horse riding (but it would be low, because it’s been a while since I’ve saddled anything), and some survival. I’m also trained as a fencer, but not professionally, so my ability to hit with a rapier would be good, but not astronomical. I can’t shoot a bow to save my life, or throw anything really, and I’m afraid of heights (which would give me some serious penalties to things like being on a window ledge. Mmmm… Matrix much?).

I’ve got a homebrew system in mind that allows for the creation of pretty much ANYTHING, so you wouldn’t be restricted to a D&D mindset. Still up in the air about systems, but does this help in making my suggestion a little bit more clear?

Riaucard ~ *high five* whales.

Loving the ideas flowing around guys. Your 'OC' comment that you made Pyro made me think of something...

What would you think about playing yourselves? Using a number of points and putting them into your actual strengths and skills, and running a Player campaign?

Yay? Nay?

Oh yeah!
Uh huh!
Oh yeah!
RPG MB!
Uh huh!

The question is, would that apply to say, other potions? Would it affect the whole body, or just an appendage that it was sprinkled on? For example:

*Potion of Enlarge*

OH GODS! MY HAND!

Nice one! Though, I never have read A Game of Thrones. Sounds like a Shakespeare tradegy.

Jing ~ I love the fact that you and your fellow players move around the table. It makes me imagine a funny little kawaii image of a dm with a book trying to herd a group of players back to the table!

5th edition? Really? 4th hasn’t run for that long at all. Haven’t played fourth ed yet; a new edition release after only a four year run speaks volumes about the system.

An edition that focuses more on homebrew rules? Yes!

Player input for a new edition? Finally. Though I was pretty sure that happened a lot for 2e and 3e in regards to Dragon Magazine.

Am I going to buy it? Probably not. I’m happy with 3rd edition. We don’t focus too much on the rules anyway, just enough to get us by whilst we kick butt and thoroughly investigate plot lines.

Topic: Dancing into the Assassin's Dawn
Subject: Amcaria ~ The aftermath of a storm

It was false light. The fires that were normally dosed by the height of night were still blazing. The sounds of drums and voices rose thick in the air. For those who could understand the exotic dialect, it was apparent that the clan was singing an ancient chant of guidance. The stars had been shifting dramatically over the last fortnight. Messages that had never been seen before were now etched in the sky above. Messages that spoke of separation. Messages that spoke of trials. Messages that spoke of loss. The ritual fires had been lit, and the shaman ordered all to participate in hopes that one might transcend mundane thought and come to a greater understanding.

She swayed next to the fire, moving with every beat of the chant. Music and song coursed through her veins, allowing her to succumb to the rhythm of the stars. With her eyes closed, she gently raised her arms towards the east as the sun began to rise over the horizon. The Queldstar believed that dawn was one of the two most sacred times of the day. A time when the celestial bodies of the heavens are in perfect harmony with the forces at work on earth. It was also the point when the light-eyed elves were the weakest.

It was dawn when it happened.

The Mith’ganni never did figure out how the breeders had gotten past their patrols. The most likely case was that the humans took advantage of the ritual, and sent scouts ahead to silence the outlying elves. Most had been distracted at the outcome of the Feanorelda; the extensive ritual took the better part of the week.

It didn’t matter. The Queldstar had their answer. Most were killed in the initial wave. Only women and children were spared, and it was only a few at that. She was one of them.

Amcaria Elenmiel.

Was it destiny, or cruel fate that had spared her? At first she was convinced that she had survived to keep their traditions alive. It was what she had been cultivated to do. Years of training in the art of the heavens and in the ceremonies of her people. But now the twinges of despair crept into the corners of her mind. Nights that once were merely restless were now filled with terror and hopelessness. She would wake screaming as the struggle took over her entire being.

Her attempts at freedom grew less and less frequent. The stars were ambiguous at best, or was she clouded by her own mind? The nights she spent outside of the tavern grew more akin to stalking the stars rather than following them. Nevertheless she still watched them, and in doing so slowly fed the dying fire inside her soul.

...but it still burned...

She stood watching the storm outside her little window in the aftermath of the evening. The din of the tavern had died down in the last hour or so, and the Twilight Elf was able to give the stage the slip without much trouble. Brumwell had managed to attract a human female for the evening, so she was mercifully left alone. It also meant that it would be easier to exit the establishment. Skirt and choli lay discarded next to the rickety table. Amcaria couldn’t peel out of them fast enough; she highly doubted the human stench would ever leave its folds.

The Mith’ganni scrubbed herself every evening with tallow soap, leaving her skin slightly raw but thankfully free of the breeder’s smell. Well, at least as free as she could be from it. Their reek permeated every fiber of the building, lingered on every corner on the street, and saturated the tallest of eaves. It was hardly her concern this evening. She stood barefooted in her flax tunic and pants and attempted to gauge the weather. She had been bereft of any additional coverings as punishment for her last foray outside the Lion’s Pride. Or at least, the last time she was caught.

Would the gale subside? Would it rage on? When would she get the next opportunity to leave her small prison to the larger one of the city? Dare she risk the cold, or stay in the comfort of her little hole? Amcaria glowered at the sky with that last thought, and resolved to head out, cloak or no. Long, silvery grey locks were gathered up in a bun secured by two thin wooden dowels; with that at least she could keep her neck free of sodden hair.

Subject: Tess ~ So about those goggles...

Jon clicked off the wave abruptly, “Tess, Jio Weh Sung Chiuh. Let's just get the hell out of here! Show these locals how this lady can dance. Save the big burn for a surprise.”

“Aye Capt’n” Tess responded immediately, “We’re dancing pretty hot as it is, but let’s see if I can’t coax the beat up a notch.” She reached up and readjusted the goggles placed over her eyes, and prepared Destiny for a little bit of reckless speed.

Oh sure, Jon had given those goggles to Tess for a laugh, but the devil do take her if they didn’t save her pretty little eyes. Saved her life, far as she's concerned. Not long after Jon gave her those do-dads, Tess was tasked out to take a small unit behind enemy lines on Athens. Independants had ahold of a short range shuttlecraft that Tess and a handy browncoat mechanic by the name of Shims had jerry rigged for quick flight. That shuttle had lost so much weight that they doubted she’d break atmo, but damned if it wasn’t fast planetside.

Wasn’t rightly sure what those men were gonna be doing, but she knew she had to get them in and out quick and quiet. She managed the first bit, but whatever those boys had done caused such a ruckus that she barely got airborne before they started shootin' at her.

Now the Alliance had all sorts of fancy weapons at their disposal, and they started shootin' at that small carrier with anti aircraft missiles and the like. Tess started puttin' that little unit through barrel rolls, pitchbacks, and all sorts of gao gun loop-de-loos to try and keep from gittin’ shot down. Thing was, by trimmin' all that weight off of the shuttle, they was trimmin' off a helluva lot of armor to boot. One of those missiles caught that shuttle upside the window, and plexiglas exploded inside the cockpit. Thing about plexiglass is that it don’t break up into nice chunks like glass does. What it do is shatter into itty bitty pieces that may not plumb kill you, but it does do a tian fuhn di fu number to the human hide when you is cruisin' at near burn speeds.

Whole darn thing would have crashed then, had Tess not been wearing those gorram goggles. She had taken such a humor to ‘em that she started wearing ‘em on missions. Told the others she was just tryin’ to keep the bugs outta her eyes. Well if it ain’t the gorram truth. She made it back to base with those men in tow. Her face was bloodied up plenty. Took the Doc on near two hours to pick all the small pieces out of her skin. Pretty sure there’s still some left somewhere in there. He figures those specs saved her eyes. She figures they were the only thing standin' between livin’, and a fiery explosion resultin' in her and six other men’s death. Hasn’t been a time since where Tess went without wearin' them goggles while she was flyin'.

OOC: Tess will be actively at the console until we reach our destination making darn sure that fecal matter stays away from the rotary oscillator. As far as flying is concerned, anyway. That, and making sure Destiny doesn’t hit anything since she’s asking to go a *little* bit faster.

No? I didn't think the Q&A conversation was going that direction all. I was pretty sure our plan was to make the delivery, but investigate the people contacting us and/or our employers.

But if it's in question, I vote no to landing at the moon and yes to continuing on to the delivery site.

and as always, Tess will follow her captain wherever he will lead her. ^_^
