Eol! I think you're onto something....

At our house, we have Mini Hoonies. And those little guys have a tendency to take objects and use them for other purposes (see socks for sleeping bags, keys for wind chimes, etc.)

WHAT?!? You want us to make a difference between In-character and Out-of-character knowledge?!? How absurd!

*grins*

Just kidding. No worries from this side of things!

“Something in the fire? Quarlin…” she looked at him doubtfully.

Raina turned to face each of the doors in turn. They did nothing but make her slightly ill; the patterns still seemed to be giving her some type of vertigo effect.

“If you haven’t figured out anything more in your hours of staring at that door, then I’m forced to agree with Heironymus’s earlier conclusion. I say the Path of Faith. We are, after all, looking for a cult.” She shrugged her shoulders and continued, “Besides, I’m not on bad terms with Elarii at all.”

At least I hope I’m not, she mused silently to herself. He’d probably get a kick out of how we are all being manipulated for a greater cause.

Me too! I'm thinking about doing up one of Willow in one of her garish bard outfits. This is just normal day to day wear on the ship.

I drew up a much more detailed one via pencil, but they never scan right, and I'm too nervy to touch it with a pen or anything else.

Although, don't let this dissuade you from finishing your picture of Willow, Eol.

The general cry of “Bugs!” murmured around the chamber as the party began transforming back to their original state. Seconds flew by as they tried to determine the best course of action, and the general consensus seemed to be fire.

Okay. You want fire for protection? We’ll give you fire for protection.

Sirene stepped up to the line of casters, and shared a look with Halia. She waited until Halia’s spell began to solidify, then lined up her own wall of fire next to it to seal the gap.

Oh Goddess, I hope this works. she thought as she gritted her teeth against the flow of magic.

Topic: Smuggler's Moon Cast and Crew
Subject: Bard on the Sea - Willow

Name: Saercyn Willow, known to the crew of Smuggler’s Moon as Willow or Will

Age: Early Forties

Appearance: Saercyn displays a bit more of the elvish side of her blood then she does her human side. Nevertheless, she can’t pass for either. Her height is at 5’6”, and her medium body structure shows well toned muscle connected to a life of work. She keeps her sandy blonde hair bobbed short just below her chin, and dark honey colored eyes dominate her face. The only true human feature is her slightly hawk nose, which is how her true heritage is revealed. She is also left handed.

Distinguishing Marks: While not usually noticeable, Willow’s body shows a couple of ugly previous encounters. The right side of her torso show scars of deep scratch wounds, and it’s apparent that her upper left arm has been flayed open a time or two. Whether this was from miscalculation or a blocking maneuver for more vital areas is up to speculation for most of the crew. She also claims to have a tattoo, but it’s located somewhere the crew will never see unless they are really good. Again, no one is really sure if she serious or not.

Attire: Attempting to be true to her bardic nature, Willow wears a scarlet shirt in favor of the traditional marine colors. Her pants, or cropped knickers as is usually the case, are light brown, and she goes shoeless while she is aboard. She usually is bareheaded, but swears one of these days she’s going to get a hat of some kind, with a feather, and maybe a big pin…

Possessions: Rose, a well loved, well cared for fiddle, plus a rig for accessibility on the ship and a case rig for carrying it in town. Along with the bow for her instrument, she also carries a light rapier, and what she calls a ‘tool’ knife strapped to her right leg.

History/Present: Willow has been aboard the Smuggler’s Moon since the time when she changed from the Isabella. Much of her history is put to the wayside; telling her crewmates that her beginnings were less then exciting, and then by diverting them with a story of someone whose history was. Her job on the ship is plain: act as ship's sea shanty singer, keep the crew entertained and placated while on long voyages, plus she’s fairly handy in a sword fight. There seems to be an additional task that she performs for the Captain, but by the creepy nature of her seeing the truth of things, it isn’t too hard to guess for the quick witted. Will’s sense of humor is light hearted and crude, and the majority of the crew has yet to see her loose her cool.

PPS ~ Thank you Meri, for the format.

PPSS ~ And I just can't get "When Mermaids Cry" by Eagle Eye Cherry out of my head every time I see "Serpent of the Sea" due to the lyric "Siren of the Sea".

Have I mentioned that I way excited to see everyone's character intro posts? We've got such a unique array of crew members. Hurrah!

Subject: Tess ~ No bunnies here

“They haven’t hailed us so Jason make the broadcast, Tess the helm is yours we have a delivery to make,” Jon ordered, leaving no room for question. Tess flipped her goggles back over her eyes.

“Aye aye, Cap’n!” she said with a small grin. She twisted her seat back around to have full access of her board and began to key in the burn sequence.

“Mei Wen Ti Captain,” Jason replied. He flipped the switch back on the comm., “Port Authority this is fast courier Destiny, we are breaking orbit and entering our burn cycle now as per our flight plan,” He smiled and continued, “Sheh sheh Greenleaf control and have a nice day.”

Click!

Buzzers started sounding as the response came in from Greenleaf, “ATTENTION ALL SHIPS DEPARTING FROM GREENLEAF. ALL SHIPS ARE TO DELAY DEPARTURE AND PREPARE TO BE BOARDED. WE HAVE A FUGITIVE SITUATION WANTED BY FEDERAL MARSHALLS. YOU COOPERATION IS APPRECIATED. THANK YOU AND HAVE A NICE DAY.”
The klaxon noise of the sensors rang from Tess’s left, and she swiveled around to get a look at the read-out, “Weapon’s lock,” she spoke calmly to the captain.

Do we dare rabbit?

“Attention Courier vessel Destiny. This is the Erikson Alliance cruiser. Please prepare for boarding and have all personal available for questioning in the cargo bay. You have 20 seconds to power down your engines.”

"Nuts,” Jon said exasperatedly, “Tess, power down!"

She did so without question.
“Jason, acknowledge the hail and ask for instructions,” Jon moved to the comm. panel and hit the ship wide line, “Folks we're getting company, meeting in the cargo bay..... what the?"

The sensor alarm went off for a second time as weapons were locked on them once again. Tess’s hands froze over the kill switch. Destiny wasn’t going to spring into action in a heartbeat, it took precious minutes to her engine warmed up again; they were going nowhere fast.
“Cap’n….”

Jon turned to Jason, "Gimme that transmitter," He raised the mic to his mouth and slammed the button at its base, “Erikson, this is Destiny; we just got targeted by an unidentified source, what is going on? Are we under your protection?"

After the rigga-ma-roll between Jon and the Alliance cruiser, Tess stood up to leave the bridge.

“So much for not going full burn,” she sighed as she made her way down to the cargo bay, “At this rate, we ain’t gonna be able to avoid it.
“Good of you t’ mention the Baron, Cap’n,” Tess commented, looking to Jon as she stepped into the lift, “Let’s just hope it’ll do us some good with that preening zhu toh zhu nao marshal. Of course it might’n if we don’t deliver on time.”

Her eyes flicked to Heironymus before she sighed.

Guess I'm doing it.

The Umbral continued to sit motionless as they approached him. His yellow eyes had a really creepy look to them, almost like they had been covered in shimmering gauze. She tried not to look at the door as she positioned herself behind him.

“If this doesn’t work,” she muttered to the cleric out of the corner of her mouth, “I’ve got smelling salts we can try.”

Her right had strayed to one of her daggers, but she didn’t grab it. The Gods forbid intentions would come off wrong; or leave her unprepared. With her left, she grasped Quarlin’s shoulder and began to shake it.

“Quarlin.”

The fire crackled and popped. Raina’s eyes slowly opened. It was so warm lying there next to the fire, and she took a moment to relish the feeling of restfulness in being able to wake up naturally.

Waking up naturally…

She sat up abruptly. Since she had been traveling, there had yet to be a time where anyone woke up naturally. It was usually at a shake of the shoulder for a change of the watch. Heironymus slept soundly close by, but Quarlin looked completely mesmerized by one of the doors. It was eerie. Not wanting to deal with the problem on her own, she leaned over and started to shake the cleric gently.

The Gods forbid something’s spellbound Quarlin,” she thought to herself as she softly spoken Heironymus’ name.
