All joking aside, I am official retired from the card moving business. Not making a tradition out of this.

Since he volunteered, I say we have Grugg do a walking tour collecting the hand print of members to give to Olan next year. He should start soon....

This was a staff idea and we briefly toyed with opening up to more but it would have been very hard to control and very very time consuming. Consider that even with a small group of people we almost lost the card once, and barely made it before christmas. So please don't feel left out - it was a spontantious (I only planned it for a month) idea that took wing and flew.

As well, there was the financial aspect that we didn't feel right asking for money from members.

So enjoy the card Olan. It was an adventure and worth the journey.

If you want to have all of you move into town together, that is fine with me. I merely wanted to play Sam getting the Captain alone to share the news.

Tann - you are in repair and parts mode right now. I would imagine you'll goto Bailey to see what you can scrouge from your old boss. If you'd liked, I'll post a post a lead in for you soon when I do the Willow post.

BTW - On Brigit. Just to "refresh" the influence of the dice here. Asher and Dash are fully gonzo "seduced" by Brigit. Wolf is mildly so. Willow and the Captain are not effected by her charms in anyway.

Subject: Thinking of moving to Canada?

Diary:

December 9: We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the Whole World? Moving here was the best idea I've ever had. Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks.

This afternoon the snow plow came along and covered up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got to shovel again. What a perfect life.

December 12: The sun has melted all our lovely snow. Such a disappointment. My neighbor tells me not to worry, we'll definitely have a white Christmas. No snow on Christmas would be awful! Bob says we'll have so much snow by the end of winter, that I'll never want to see snow again. I don't think that's possible. Bob is such a nice man. I'm glad he's our neighbor.

December 14: Snow, lovely snow! 8" last night. The temperature dropped to -20. The cold makes everything sparkle so. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is the life! The snowplow came back this afternoon and buried everything again. I didn't realize I would have to do quite this much shoveling, but I'll certainly get back in shape this way. I wish I wouldn't huff and puff so.

December 15: 20 inches forecast. Sold my van and bought a 4x4 Blazer. Bought snow tires for the wife's car and 2 extra shovels. Stocked the freezer. The wife wants a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I think that's silly. We aren't in Alaska, after all.

December 16: Ice storm this morning. Fell on my weed puller on the ice in the driveway putting down salt. Hurt like hell. The wife laughed for an hour, which I think was very cruel.

December 17: Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go anywhere. Electricity was off for 5 hours. I had to pile the blankets on to stay warm. Nothing to do but stare at the wife and try not to irritate her. Guess I should've bought a wood stove, but won't admit it to her. God I hate it when she's right. I can't believe I'm freezing to death in my own living room.

December 20: Electricity's back on, but had another 14" of the damn stuff last night. More shoveling. Took all day. Goddamn snowplow came by twice. Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but they said they're too busy playing hockey. I think they're lying. Called the only hardware store around to see about buying a snow blower and they're out. Might have another shipment in March. I think they're lying. Bob says I have to shovel or the city will have it done and bill me. I think he's lying.

December 22: Bob was right about a white Christmas because 13 more inches of the white shine fell today, and it's so cold it probably won't melt till August. Took me 45 minutes to get all dressed up to go out to shovel and then I had to piss. By the time I got undressed, pissed and dressed again. I was too tired to shovel. Tried to hire Bob who has a plow on his truck for the rest of the winter; but he says he's too busy. I think the asshole is lying.

December 23: Only 2" of snow today. And it warmed up to 0. The wife wanted me to decorate the front of the house this morning. What is she...nuts??? Why didn't she tell me to do that a month ago? She says she did but I think she's damn well lying.

December 24: 6". Snow packed so hard by snowplow, l broke the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack. If I ever catch the son of a bitch who drives that snowplow, I'll drag him through the snow by his balls. I know he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then he comes down the street at a 100 miles an hour and throws snow all over where I've just been! Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas carols with her and open our presents, but I was busy watching for the goddamn snowplow.

December 25: Merry Christmas. 20 more inches of the #$%&@!! slop tonight. Snowed in. The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. God I hate the snow! Then the snowplow driver came by asking for a donation and I hit him over the head with my shovel.

December 26: Still snowed in. Why the hell did I ever move here? It was all HER idea. She's really getting on my nerves.

December 28: Warmed up to above -50. Still snowed in. THE wife is driving me crazy!!!

December 29: 10 more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or it could cave in. That's the silliest thing I ever heard. How dumb does he think I am?

December 30: Roof caved in. The snow plow driver is suing me for a million dollars for the bump on his head. The wife went home to her mother . 9" predicted.

December 31: Set fire to what's left of the house. No more shoveling.

January 8: I feel so good. I just love those little white pills they keep giving me. Why am I tied to the bed?

Willow's meeting is at 7 and the town meeting isn't until 9ish. Two hours is more than enough time for you to travel to the doctor's office, the store and back - unless you get bushwhacked.

There will be another post soon though with more detail of Willow's meeting and anything else I need to add.

Rocinante, Regina, Frisco – 7:00 am

Sam wanted to share the news of the money that Brigit had told him about, but there was all means of bad feelings to deal with first. He decided to keep the news to himself until after the crew meeting was over. Then, once Willow was on her way to her shepherd, Wolf was out the door with a fist full of platinum, list of parts in hand and humming a happy tune. The kid left shortly afterwards with the need to buy ammo and pick up the equipment he left at the doctor’s place. Ma was busy cleaning up so Sam shot a look to the captain that said “we need to talk.”

They met in the cockpit and Sam laid it out for the Captain. Brigit, the ship with the lost Independence cash, the mine and he even took Wyatt about the Ludlow. It was clear to the Captain that Sam was completely smitten with Brigit and believed her a whole lot more than he should. But the money sounded right tempting now – and he heard talk of money that was stolen during the war by a greedy folk or two. Sure wasn’t doing anyone any good buried deep in a mine.

While they were mulling over the situation, Sam noticed the wave in his folder. He brought it up, and had to go through the usual hoops that Tink built into her messages. No one in the verse could crypt a message like her, both verbal and somatic components were required and the Captain shot him an odd look while he waved his arms in the air and declared “I believe in fairies!”

Once he got to the message it was very short. “Eyes open and to the sky Peter. Hook is looking for your Wendy and looking quiet. Searching the Willow tree if you caught my meaning, so keep her safe, keep her hidden.”

The Captain shot a questioning look to Sam. Sam looked over at him. “That was from a friend who keeps an eye on the cortex for me. Someone is looking for Willow. Looking for her through the cortex but not alliance or anyone who wants to let it know they are searching.”

Emmett’s Bar, Beylix, Newhouse – 12:05 am

Dason wanted to be quick, not give this Bowman fella a chance to get to his guns. He pulled the hammer back while it was still in his pocket, planning to quickdraw and fire in the same motion. But the gorram guy was faster than Buddha’s little pony and had a gun in his hand in a blur. Dason panicked and tried to draw and fire but he pulls the trigger while it is in his pocket and the hammer fouls on the material of pocket.

Andrew saw the butt of the gun in the man’s hand as he attempted to draw on him. His reflexs took over and he double tapped two rounds at his assailant and then threw himself to the floor in case the mans lived and fired back.

But Dason didn’t have the chance. Both bullets hit him through the heart. He arched backwards and fell to floor, dead before his head him the ground. The gun, still trapped in his pocket.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!” Screamed the barmaid in hysterics. She looked at the dead man, back to Andrew and screamed again as she peeled out of the bar screaming murder at the top of her lungs.

“Gorram it! You shot him!” Darryl said in disbelief his own guns out and trained oon Andrew, “He didn’t even have a gun!”

“That was murder mister! Sheriff’s gonna hang you!” Doug added. He hadn’t drawn yet but his hand was on his gun

Bobbie shook his head, “Hold on boys. I heard a hammer cock. I’m sure of it” as he got up and walked over to the body. “It’s in his pocket! It’s a gorram peashooter, but he’s got a gun.”

Don't 3e bonuses start at 12? At 74 you could have +1 in everything. I'd hardly call that a restriction.

Webb climbs a tree to get a good look around. The first thing that strikes his eye is far way in the distance is a pyramid. It is a long ways away, probably a good three days journey, but it is so big that it is visible from this distance. He also notices that there are landmark scatterings of an ancient civilization between you and the pyramid. There are also some more palm trees in this easterly direction, which means water at least. Other than that, there are no signs of life nearby.

You set up the tents and put yourself and the animals out of the sun’s rays. Watches are established, as there is no such thing as being to cautious in these lands. The water from the well feels good on the back of your throat and the hangovers of the drugs or alcohol in your system seems to be chased away by the wet coolness.

As night falls and the oppressive heat begins to subside, you’re left with the question of which direction to go. The only signs of civilization is to the east, and it is an ancient civilization at best.

You begin to pack up the tents when then ground starts to shake. It begins slowly, like a small tremor but it starts to grow steadily. Suddenly, the ground near the horses bursts free and a strange worm-like creature emerges from the ground. Its huge maw is large enough to swallow a horse and that appears to be what it is looking for. The skin of the monster is almost a purple hue with a pale yellow underbelly. The ground on the other side of you breaks open to reveal the tail with a huge stinger.

OOC: Combat time. Please tell me what you plan to do, and what you are likely to do if the plan fails.

You reach the town when it is dark. There is little need to search for your enemy, as they are exactly where Char and Dapple saw them last, still discussing and arguing the merits of going to find women versus staying at their posts. They are well lit from their lofty position, with the energy crackling on the halberd illuminating them well. The intellectual conversation between them has broken down into “Uh huh!” and “Un uh!” back and forth.

Those of you who chose stealth for your approach have no difficulty as they are truly not paying attention and are so loud you could move a division in without them hearing. Kilgim says a quick prayer and casts a protection from Lightning bolts on Arien, as he will be an attraction to the electrical energy of that halberd in all his armour. Matthias tries to use a powerful charm on the ugly brother but it seems to be highly magic resistant.

(I assume Arien and Maximus will go first to draw the attack and present a better target to the archers, backstabbers and spellcaster)

As Arien and Maximus prepare to charge in against them, The White Haired one stops to look around and listen. He turns to his brother, “Hold…my brother. We are…being approached…by great…warriors.”

“What? Who dares approach us?”

“Unless I…am mistaken….and…I never…am. We are…about to face…Arien Thedell… and his…Succoring Six!”

“The famous Demon Slayers? Are you sure?”

“Aye…my brother. I have…all their…action figures…at home. If we…slay them,...there…will be much…glory and…fame…for us.”

“I wish to face Maximus the Mighty, whose blade can cut 100 demons in half with a single swing. Come, test your sword against me!” he shouts out to the darkness and leaps from the chimney top to the ground. When he lands, the force is so great that the dirt ripples away from him in a shockwave circle. High above, the flying one gestures dramatically with his halberd and electrical energy discharges from it in lightning bolts striking the ground and buildings around them.

OOC: Combat time. You all agreed on different approached but no one was specific. I also wanted to give you a chance to react to the brothers.

If I do not hear from Robert by Sunday, I am going to have Matthias offer to use his Charm Monster on one of the beings in an attempt to force one to fight the other. If they are truly brothers, then fighting each other won't be against their nature.

If I have not heard from Raven by Sunday, Then Kilgim will cast a "Protection from Lightning Bolts" on Arien, since he is charging in and wearing all that armour. (That gives Arien 70 hp of electric absorption before he starts taking damage - I play the spell a bit differently)

Real Life, like network producers play havoc on our firefly game. I know Robert wants to post but his RL situation is crazy right now.

I am going to barrel this forward on the weekend if Robert doesn't post. Cat and I will work out the meeting. I will make the following assumptions with Sam:

He will tell the crew about the hidden loot and part of Brigit's story.

He will tell the Captain all the details including the hiring of Ludlow.

He will suggest that they meet with Brigit to go over the details of the treasure and the hows and whens.

That would be in the afternoon, after the town meeting. Once you have that meeting, you can have a group meeting about what is going to happen next.

Yes, there are a lot of meetings going on. I promise that you will be leaving soon with a paying haul but I can't rush through all that.

GIFT WRAPPING WITH THE HELP OF YOUR CAT

1. Clear large space on table for wrapping present.

2. Go to closet and collect bag in which present is contained, and shut door.

3. Open door and remove cat from closet.

4. Go to cupboard and retrieve rolls of wrapping paper.

5. Go back and remove cat from cupboard.

6. Go to drawer, and collect transparent sticky tape, ribbons, scissors, labels, etc...

7. Lay out presents and wrapping materials on table, to enable wrapping strategy to be formed.

8. Go back to drawer to get string, remove cat that has been in the drawer since last visit and collect string.

9. Remove present from bag.

10. Remove cat from bag.

11. Open box to check present, remove cat from box, replace present.

12. Lay out paper to determine size to cut.

13. Try to smooth out paper, realize cat is underneath and remove cat.

14. Cut the paper to size, keeping the cutting line straight.

15. Throw away first sheet as cat chased the scissors, and tore the paper.

16. Cut second sheet of paper to size - by putting cat in the bag the present came in.

17. Place present on paper.

18. Lift up edges of paper to seal in present. Wonder why edges don't reach. Realize cat is between present and paper. Remove cat.

19. Place object on paper, to hold in place while tearing transparent sticky tape.

20. Spend 20 minutes carefully trying to remove transparent sticky tape from cat with pair of nail scissors.

21. Seal paper with sticky tape, making corners as neat as possible.

22. Look for roll of ribbon. Chase cat down hall in order to retrieve ribbon.

23. Try to wrap present with ribbon in a two-directional turn.

24. Re-roll ribbon and remove paper, which is now torn due to cat's enthusiastic ribbon chase.

25. Repeat steps 13-20 until you reach last sheet of paper.

26. Decide to skip steps 13-17 in order to save time and reduce risk of losing last sheet of paper. Retrieve old cardboard box that is the right size for sheet of paper.

27. Put present in box, and tie down with string.

28. Remove sting, open box and remove cat.

29. Put all packing materials in bag with present and head for a room with a lock.

30. Once inside locking room, lock door and start to relay out paper and materials.

31. Remove cat from box, unlock door, put cat outside door, close and relock.

32. Repeat previous step as often as is necessary (until you can hear cat from outside door)

33. Lay out last sheet of paper. (This will be difficult in the small area of the toilet, but do your best)

34. Discover cat has already torn paper. Unlock door go out and hunt through various cupboards, looking for sheet of last year's paper. Remember that you haven't got any left because cat helped with this last year as well.

35. Return to lockable room, lock door, and sit on toilet and try to make torn sheet of paper look presentable.

36. Seal box, wrap with paper and repair by very carefully sealing with sticky tape. Tie up with ribbon and decorate with bows to hide worst areas.

37. Label. Sit back and admire your handiwork, congratulate yourself on completing a difficult job.

38. Unlock door, and go to kitchen to make drink and feed cat.

39. Spend 15 minutes looking for cat until coming to obvious conclusion.

40. Unwrap present, untie box and remove cat.

41. Go to store and buy a gift bag.
