Pain. Suffering. Torture. These things and many more were all Taklinn knew for the past year. But Taklinn was a dwarf. and not just any dwarf, he was an arctic dwarf. He faced the harshest of winters beyond anyones imaginations. These orcs were not going to break his spirits. These orcs were only doing one thing. Fueling his rage. The longer that they kept this up, the deeper his hatred got for orcs. But not just any orcs, orcs of the Blood Eye Clan.

These orcs only wanted one thing. To know how to get into a dwarven hold. He had only been into one dwarven hold, and that was the one he had hailed from. Iceflow. Regardless though, he did not want to give the orcs the idea that he did not know. He wanted to show the orcs that dwarves were better in all aspects to orcs, and that he would never give in. So for a year, they tortured him, plucked out his eyes and healed them back with there shamanistic power, lopped off his arms and healed them back on. It continued like this for a year, but nothing could last forever.

It had been days since he had been let out of this box. He cramped up in his legs, but he did not whine or speak a word. To give these orcs the satisfaction of torturing him would be worse than anything else.

The lid was opened, light pouring into his coffin, eyes squinting and looking up into the face of an ugly green face. He thought for a moment, and wondered if he had seen this face before. Out of the many faces that had tortured him for months, this one was very memorable. And also he had an offer.

“I am Gu’nark, son to the chief of the Blood Eye Clan. You dwarf have killed many of my warriors and endured more than any I have ever seen. Do not think my kind without compassion. I will give you a chance to win your freedom back. This war has carried on a long time, and my men require entertainment to keep their spirits bolstered while we continue the eradication of your dirt cousins. You will be thrown into the Yeti caves, where you will be given your chance to escape, or feed our beasts. Either way you will have served your purpose and I will have the means to keep the troops appeased.”

The orc looked at him, and laughed.

“Not that you have much choice in the matter dwarf, but do try and last a little while? The longer you fight, the more my name will ring on as the greatest general of the clan.”

Taklinn thought he was going to break his own hands by squeezing them so hard. Out of the entire year of torture, this was the worst treatment he had been given. He had spotted his gear and he had wanted to take up his axe and strike down the beast where he stood. But no, not now, not like this. There would be a time where he would get his revenge, and by Corean was there a lot to pay back for.

Taklinn thought for a second, and came to a decision. He walked over to where his things were, and started to don his armour. He felt a sense of security in his breastplate armour, and grabbed hs axe, gripping its handle, getting the feeling for it all over again. He spoke as he gathered his things.

" Gu'nark, son ta chief of the Blood Eye Clan, I will take this deal of yours. I will go into the Yeti pit and find mah way out. You meh think I will falter and find my end in the depths below, but I wont. Heed my words orc, I, Taklinn Gnarlstone of the Iceflow clan, will beh back. I will make you pay for teh full year of torture and the life of Gideon. You and all teh other orcs of dah Blood Eye Clan have chosen this fate. Remember this and remember it well, orc. This is not the last you have seen o' Taklinn Gnarlstone. Dat is a promise I will dare not break."

Taklinn looked at him, and looked into the pit that he stood infront of. Its icy walls reflected the blue magical light down into it and gave up little on behalf on how deep it really was. But there was no other way. This was it. The beginning of his second chance at life. There so many things to do. Find a way out of this cave, warn the dwarves nearby that the blood eye clan are on there heels, and avenge the death of Gideon and the years worth of torture that was bestowed upon him. There was always so much on a dwarves mind, and good thing there was to, it kept Taklinn distracted from the fact that he had just jumped into a hole that he did not know the depth to, but soon would find out.

Loda was agitated at the guards, who were so high and mighty in there own right would not let them in for the life of them. And on top of that, they were blatently racist to, dispising all khord. Thats why Loda enjoyed doing what she was doing, making a fool of herself to disgust the men even more. But once she realized that they werent going to let Gothard in, she turned and wandered off into the woods. Before she left though the others planned on meeting on the other side of town, so she slowly made her way, skirting the city until she was at the other side, and waited. Once the group got together they set off, hopefully leaving this disgraceful town behind them. She much rather stay in Birchroot, even with a giant rabid badger than stay in that place. But enough was enough, and soon the bad thoughts of the city left and Lodas mind was filled with happier things. The forest around them, the animals, birds, Thondrek, and ale. She reached down and grabbed her flask, sipping the drink loudly, then squirted some in Gothards mouth, his nose nudging the leathery container to get her attention.

The next day they kept onwards, following the path that cut through the forest. Today was a little different though, with every syl that they passed looking anxious and paranoid, and she was able to count the amount they crossed paths with on one hand.

Soon enough though, the forest parted slightly and in the clearing was a tall, snow white tower with ivory snaking up all around it. Kinda like a tower you'd read in one of those fairy tales. And the grass was cut strangely too, making weird designs and patterns. But neither of those things drew her attention more than the sylvari woman who was suited up in armour, and mounted on a horse. She looked quite pissed, but didnt seem like she was going to do anything. She yelled up at the tower something in common, obviously trying to coax someone out.

“Open up, I command you! The Emperor requests your aid! Don’t let a Bladesinger waiting!”

Loda walked forward a bit, stepping onto the grass.

" Hey there, whats going on? Seems like who ever is up there doesnt wanna come out. Whatcha need help with?"

Loda watched as Gothard trotted up next to her, and sat down, looking at the horse, and the woman.

" And please, dont mind Gothard, he's as friendly as can be."

Herendiel walked slowly up to the room, wondering what it was that actually got him selected from all the others. He thought to himself, pondering about what it could be.

"Obviously it wasnt because of his physical strength, as they had turned down enough muscle to tear down the walls of this tavern. So if it wasnt that, then it was for his mighty magical abilites. Obviously they needed someone who could read and understand the arcane things all around us, and who is also very intellectual, because someone has to do all of the thinking in any sort of group. And gods for bid that those giants with arms bigger than my thigh have any sort of smarts within them. I bet that with all their "brain power" combined, they could almost figure out how many legs a stool has. Maybe if I turned it upside down and made them sit on it, then they probably would figue it out."

Herendiel chuckled to himself as he made crude jokes in his head, and suddenly stopped, as he was told to go to the room to his left. He entered, and inside already was quite the crowd. All looking fit to take down a mighty orc, or go swimmining in a mud pit. Either one. But as his eyes quickly swept over the room, his eyes stopped on a giant woman...thing. She was dressed out in what looked like to be tribal type outfit. And obviously she hailed from some, far off land where they eat bugs and play in dung all day. How disgusting. He made sure to get a seat far away and out of sight of her. Actually, everyone kind of made him a little nervous, if not queasy. Everyone, so sweaty, and dirty, in armour of all sorts, with dusty clothes underneath.

Herendiel was glad that he had just bathed, and smelt faintly of flowers.

He pulled out his pipe, since he didnt have enough time to finish his other wad downstairs, and lit it up.

The silence held for a few moments before the young man wearing the bandana shifted forwards in his seat. “Well, since we’re travelin’ together, I think this is a good time to at least get each other’s names. I’m Basque. Its nice to meet you all.”

Seated beside him, the dwarf scratched his beard with grubby fingers and huffed deeply. “My name is Arback, of the Starbreaker clan.”

On the other side of the seating area, the lovely woman smiled sweetly and tilted her head, allowing her light brown hair to fall to the side. “I’m Celene Rivercrest. My pleasure.”

Soon after these three oh so gracicously bewildered us with the most boring greetings, something a little more interesting happened.

“My name is Vyarp Longtooth, of the tribe of the Twisted Horn. If you need a trapper, scout, knife fighter or archer then I’m your man.”

As soon as the kobold was done introducing himself, which, from coming from a kobold, was much more entertaining than from ordinary dwarves or humans, a woman stood up, almost broke her chair, and threatened the kobold Vyarp.

“Kobold, What business do you have here? Which band of thieves cut throats to send you on this task?”

The room stayed quiet for a second, until Herendiel uncrossed his legs and let out a ring of smoke. He felt kind of sorry for the kobold, so out of place, scared, and different. But he felt a connection to. Never in his life would Herendiel be accompanied by or around such lively and simple people. Herendiel looked down at his bright red robe, and his ivory white tunic underneath. His short white hair cut to perfection, and his sandals, a finest leather. He felt out of place to. So, that put Vyarp and him in the same situation, sort of.

Herendiel tapped his pipe twice and spoke up, looking at the cieling, eyes closed.

" Woman, what in the nine hells do you think he is doing here? Obviously he was selected to go on this mission or quest or whatever the hell it is along with us. He wants fame and fortune along with the rest of us."

Herendiel tilted his head downwards and looked at her and her dagger.

" Now if I were you, I would put that dagger away. He recieved the same seal as us, and is just sitting in a damn chair. If you try an kill him, and I say try because I have no clue what he is packing, but if you do try and do kill him, I dont think that the Zantrical will be to happy. Ya know, since the selections are over and everything. they would be one short, and plans would be screwed."

He inhaled the sweet smoke and puffed it out, and continued.

" I wouldnt want to get the Zantrical mad. They have powerful people amongst there ranks, and I'm sure they could have you dealt with very quickly. Now, stop theatening every one else who is different, sit down, and shut up. That chair is probably Zantrical property, and I know I wouldnt like it if you killed one of my hired sell swords, AND broke my chair too."

Herendiel puffed a few more times on his pipe, re crossed his legs, and relaxed, reveling in the lucious feeling of the very expensive, yet satisfying weed.

Subject: no animals allowed? Bah!

Loda looked at the elven men with disgust. She could tell that they did not like any of them. Well the Khordds atleast. Who knew what kind of thoughts they had against there elven companion. Her face wrinkled even more when she heard that animals were not allowed in the city. She looked the man in the eye and spoke.

" Animals not allowed in an elven city deep in the woods? What kind of people are you? Look. Gothard here is nothing but a timid wolf, companion, and friend. If he cant stay in the city, I wont enter either. But you all need to realize that not evey animal is diseased. We have slain one of these beasts, and it was dire and twisted beyond any natural form."

Loda took out her ale skin and took a swig of it, wiping her mouth on her sleeve and letting out a slight burp, with a wry smile following soon after.

Firewind sat back in the van. Finally, some relative safety. He laid down the woman on a bench, and leaned up against the back of the van. Digital Scribe sat to his left, and then one more person slid in. It was Spiff, someone who he didnt know that well. But Scribe, well atleast they've been on a run together before. Firewind looked down at the woman for a second, when a shot rang out not even three feet from his face. He would of almost jumped through the roof of the van, if he wasnt already used to everything like that, explosions and what not. He wasnt even under the pressure of saving a life. But what did startle him was when he looked up, seeing the two aiming at eachother. His hand reached for his gun, but didnt pick a target, yet. He didnt want to add any more tension to the scene, because that was Guardians job, who joined in. The black man standing at the entrance of the van.

“Scribe,” the bodyguard instructed as Frankie looked up at him through squinting eyes, his left hand raised to shield him from the sudden torrent of rain. “Keep your piece aimed at his head.”

DigitalScribe glanced back to where the fixer lay looking at his watch, apparently unconcerned with the arrival of the large black man. “You will hand over your gun to Scribe now. I will not ask again.”

“It’s all good—be chilled, Guardian,” Frankie’s tone was non-plussed, though he secretly worried about the condition of the camera. It was battle-ready, but you never know what kind of ammunition a person was using, and armor piercing rounds were more and more common these days. The media’s voice was calming, and not just intended for the bodyguard, but for everyone in the van as he relaxed, rolling his handgun back in his hand and dropping his arm to his side. “We just needed to config an understanding here, is all. Everything is chilled now.”

Firewind sighed as the commotion died down, and one more joined them quickly after, this one being PeaceKeeper. She climbed in the van after Guardian, and now they all sat, waiting for the last two, Croaker and Preacher.

Firewind watched the two out there, slowly make there way towards the van. Gun fire was being exchanged back and forth, and he flinched as he throught he seen one of them get hit. The distintctive jerks of the body being hard to see through the darkness and rain. A torrent of gun fire poured from one of the figures, and for a moment, all was quiet. He looked even harder, and seen that someone was hit. One person was checking the other, and PeaceKeeper was rushing out, and checking the downed figure.

"Well if its anyone who should be out there, its me." Firewind thought to himself, and he quickly climbed his way out of the back, and ran out to the people. He could see clearer now as he got closer, and Preacher was the one who was down. He ran up to them and started to help drag him back. He quickly glanced over his head, wiping away waves of blood. But the head wasnt the worst of it, a few drops of medical glue or staples would do that job. It was his chest that he worried about. The wound looked more serious than what it really was, but he would need to get a good look in the van.

" Quickly, we need to get him inside the van and get these clothes off of him." Firewind looked back at the van, and knew that there were four people in the back. DS, Spiff, Guardian, and the woman who he hauled out of there.

" Move! Clear the right side of the van, we need to lay him on the bench! Get the hell out of our way!" Fire wind yelled to the peopel inside the van. There was no room for hesisation, evey second was precious, and he needed to get him inside as quickly as possible.

alright, I think I am feeling well enough now to post, I'm taking 1750 mg's of amoxicillin a day, and only from two pills! these are the biggest pills I've ever taken. Oh and who ever gets Strep throat, DO NOT let it sit around and try an heal on itself. the Doctor told me that if you have it for a long time, it has a chance of messing with your heart valves, and later on in life, it'll really mess ya up. But also I'm taking IB profin for pain, so right now, i'm quite relaxed so i'm gonna go post now, and then update in some other games which i need to attend to too.

yeah, I know i didnt post last week, but now i cannot this week either. I have been ill since this monday, and i have a serious strep throat, with swollen glands in my neck, making it painfu to turn my neck certain ways, swallow, and talk. Also the swelling is pushing on the workings of my inner ears, causing pain there too. I have been to the doctors before, and they said that I had a drainage problem in my ears, and the fluids that are suppose to drain out, done right away. and fluids happen a lot when i get sick, so it is pushing my ears outwards. painful. hopefully the 1200 mg's of IB profun ( i know spellings bad) will help =P but please, give me till next week to post, and also back post for before. tank you.

Subject: sorry, sorry, I'm late, so lets try this finally, eh?

Herendiel looked around the ornate and decorative room. Golden coloured walls with a crystal chandelere, bright red furniture, emblazened with golden tassles and skirts along the bottom of them. A finely polished oaken coffee table sat before him, and he gently set his tea down onto it. The fire that was once roaring was now down to a dull blaze, and the conversation that he was having with his friend Duncan was starting to run in circles.

" But why wont you join up, one thousand rommels are at stake, and who wouldnt want a fine wizard like yourself on the expooration team." Duncan wrapped his purple robe around himself tighter, and looked at the fire. " And cant you start that thing up again, woods not exactly the most expensive thing around, ya know?"

Herendiel looked at his friend, and loosened up his scarlet red robe, exposing a white tunic underneath. " I think its quite nice in here, and its not the money, you that, I have no need for any more than what I already have. I wont do it because of the kind of deal your trying to swindle me into. twenty five percent of the final reward? Do you think I cannot do math, my friend? You're asking for two hundred and fifty Rommels, for just showing me the flyer." Herendiel took a sip of his tea, and set it back on the coffee table. " And you know if I went out first, I would of stumbled upon one in the street somewhere."

" Yeah I know, but think of all those things I've done for you, remember that time down by the docks? huh, do ya? Those guys would of really messed you up if I hadnt of been there."

" You waved a stick at them and kicked over a barrel, any amount of aggression would scare off little would-be thieves like that."

Duncan leaned forward and smiled. " It might of been just that, if I hadnt put an alchemist fire in the barrel first."

Herendiel choked on his tea, and quickly set it down again. " You idiot, is that why that pier burst into flames like that? I thought one of the torches they were carrying hit that pitch!"

Duncan sat back into the big coushin, and crossed his legs. " So, you know I saved your hide atleast once, if not more." He lifted the sheet of parchment to his face, and then back down again. " Oh, and did I mention that
'Famed Veytheir explorer Jacques le Vert' is the one leading it?"

Herendiel stopped tapping the arm rest, and looked up at him. " You know how I am with that man, why didnt you mention it earlier? Alright, I'll do it. And two hundred and fifty is fine, you can have it. Tommorrow, I guess I have to go to the Blazing Heretic. Now please leave, I have things to do and prepare."

the next night......

Herendiel walked into the tavern, the smoke and dim light making him flinch back slightly, it all being over powering and so sudden. Quickly he could see where the line was and the desk that was doing the sign ups, but first he wanted something to eat. He hadnt had a good 'ol tavern meal in months, always eating the cooks food that he had, it always tasted, so prepared, so fussed over. This here food is cooked with no regard as to what goes in it or how much. every meal is different, even though it might be the same thing. Always tasting new spices and herbs, then trying to find them on the market and make it yourself. Always a fun thing to do.

Herendiel seated himself at a small table, and waited until a maid came over.
" Yes ma'am, could I get a small glass of juice, squeezed from the finest grapes you have, and a bowl of that, oh what does that sign say, lamb and beef stew? I dont think I have tasted that before, I shall try that. And a a small roll to accompany it too please. Thank you.

Herendiel sat back and removed a small pipe from his side pouch, the designs on each of its flanks matching in every way possible, showing the work of a true craftsmen in mundane items. He filled his pipe with a fine weed and puffed, sat back, and enjoyed the slow melody of Heramell and his fortunes.

(( Hopefully we can start this thing up! ))

Loda waited at the south eastern edge of Birchroot, waiting for this so called monstrous badger to appear. Gothard lay next to her, vigilintly watching for anything and everything. They both were content with the ale that they had before they left, and was ready to fight anything that came her way.

Soon though she heard leaves and twigs crunching underfoot, and it seemed to be coming closer, and very fast. She reached for her axe and shield, but sighed as it was only Lanelion, one of the residents of the town.

He ran right up to her, his face as white as freshly sheered sheep wool.

"It's coming this way, it's coming this way I tell you!"

He shook her shoulders hard, and Loda yelled out for her allies to hunt this beast down. Soon they were tracking the beast where Lanelion had seen it, a clear path of broken branches and things layed out before them.

Malius sunk into the ground, and the beastly creature burst from the ground. Mud and dirt matted in its fur, and bone pieces jutted from its boy. This wasnt a normal badger. This wasnt even a normal dire badger. Something was tampering with nature, and this enraged Loda. If the stories of what the townsfolk had told them about the other animals were true, then somethign was wrong here. Something for than the eye can see.

But they needed to take care of this now, and Malius was already badly damaged, they retaliated against the beast. Alyssia Lightning bolted it, and Thondrek attacked it multiple times, it was her turn now to try an help.

" Gothard, get behind the beast and attack it, it's better than charging it from the front! I have just the thing that will help us out."

Loda set her weapon to her side and started to pray, and waved her hands gently infront of her. A small orange ball of fire started to grow in her hands, whisps of flames licking off of it as it grew bigger and bigger as she prayed. Soon she raised her hands in the air and a very large ball of fire hovered above her. She pointed her finger at the badger, and the ball of fire moved towards it, hurling itself onto the beast.

( Loda will cast flaming sphere, and direct it to attack the badger, and every turn as a free action i will direct it to attack the badger too. if this takes multiple turns to cast, on the second turn I'll heal Thondrek, and direct the flaming sphere to attackt he badger again.)

Loda watched as the breif conversation went on infront of her.
Draven had spoken out against the actions she had taken.

“Perhaps the two of you should ease up on the dwarf-swill, instead of being so eager to get back to drinking. Or did you volunteer our services without my consent? We’ve not heard of your problem, sir. We simply happen to be passing through.”

The elder looked back at the group and was obviously dissapointed.

“So… so… you were not sent by the farmers to help kill the badger? But your… comrades here…. they seemed willing enough to help, right? Please, I beg you. You carry weapons and scars of experience. Help us out. We cannot wait another week. Who knows when he’s going to appear next!”

Thondrek, who was on her side in this decision, spoke out.

"Bah, Draven they gots a pest problem. 'ow 'ard can one wee lil badger be? Tearin thru the trash no doubt eh? Look we be passin through anyways, why not possibly 'elp the poor git, and mebbe line our pockets with new provisions or some gold for the next leg of the journey? I say tell me of yer badger problem, and then we'll decide our course, I figure since we be 'ere anyways, it's not too out o the question to look into it if'n it won't take too long."

Alyssia, who had been quiet this entire time, finally spoke on the matter, putting it three against one.

"I concur. We should help this village even if it does not lead to us lining our pockets. If it wouldn't be too much pain, could I get a change of garments. Mine have gotten torn on our journey here. I cannot speak for my companions, but I will be glad to help you without any compensation expect for a bed to sleep in and some food to line my stomach."

After eveyone had seemed to be done speaking, Loda finally opened her mouth and added her thoughts, again.

" Draven, I do not remember any of us needing your consent to do anything, especially help some syl's who need it. Obviously they are in dire stress, and the help they have asked for is late."

She looks back at the elder, and smiles at him, and steps forwards a bit.

" Well, ya see, we're not really the people you are looking for. But that does not mean we should deny every person looking for help! We'll certainly help you out. And I am, one of the circle. A druid you would call. As you can see, this here is Gothard."

She pats Gothard on his head as his tongue flops out and tail starts to wag.

" I am not one of the woods though, but one of the underground, the caverns and tunnels of below. So if it is a badger problem you have, we might not have to even spill any blood, especially the ones of hapless animals. But I am curious, how would a badger be so much of a problem that you are forced to hire sell swords? Havent you tried talking with it or trapping it to locate it somewhere else? That would be the most sensible thing to do.
