Mapping Programs

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good mapping programs I could use for DMing (specifically anything that would work on Mac OS X)?

My maps are always embarrassingly bad, so anything that could improve them would be awesome.

ah...

....the eternal struggle. There are some decent ones out there, but prepare to pay for them.

oh?

Care to name a few? As long as they're not too expensive I wouldn't mind checking them out.

ooh

Dungeon maps really. But generally something that gives you the flexibility to create a map for different types of encounters (eg in a forest clearing).

Meh...Campaign Cartographer requires Windows.

ey

how about drawing the map yourself in a drawing/photo editing program? That's what I do usually, though it doesn't give a grit.

Macs

So get Virtual PC for the Mac. There is a free program call Dungeon Generator. It makes up all sorts of rooms connected by halls and even adds all the entounters and treasure by D&D levels.

Dungenie

Is what I've used for quite awhile, with free additions weekly, and additional packs you can buy for anything from gothic to 3d isotropic views you can plan anything really. You can even swap to 3d mode and walk your own settings view monsters items traps etc etc, but prepare to pay for the premium additions.
