I am sorry guys I would love to be in this game but I just have this thing about taking over other's characters. In situations like that I feel committed to playing the character as it's former owner did and I feel that I just cant do it justice.
Besides there is always the 'relationship' issue with another C that might be in place and I dont like to participate in that sort of RP.
Hence, I avoid that altogether.
But as I said, if an opening comes up for a New character, let me know and I will gladly be up to playing it.
Heck, I wouldnt mind playing an adversary of the group, an Alliance agent, a fence, a bounty hunter, etc. Wouldnt have to be someone in every scene either. That would be fun!
Just let me know if something comes up!

If I could figure out a plausible way to get you into the pilot's role and not break up the entire story, I would.
Let me think on it. I might have an idea forming...
Are you familiar with the character buidling process? Check out the Looking for browncoats thread in recruitment if you are not. I have details listed in there.

Alacrity.. you have a player (cdnflirt) in the recruitment thread willing to take over Dash if you like.. you might want to consider that. I would hate to take over a spot someone else is willing to take.
You sure you dont need an adversary?

I full on agree that taking over another person's character is a difficult prospect--no one will be able to play Dash like Robert does, and the friendship between Sam and Wyatt is going to be all the more difficult to play out with someone else in the role. Robert and I found sympatico in the characters.
What I was suggesting from you, YeOlde, was covering Sam Dash in Robert's absence, and working towards the eventual addition of a character unique to you as the story progressed and Robert returned.
I posted this in the CWILLO thread, but I can attempt to preserve that dash of Dash posting for him within my own posts if you'd like Roger.

I hear what your saying Brom… but since cdnflirt expressed an interest in taking over the C for now.. I think you should ask her.. or as you suggested maybe you ‘preserving that dash of Dash’ in your own posts until Robert returns or the character is dropped.
I am working on a new C at the moment using the Looking for Brown Coats thread.. very interesting RPG system. I will have a pilot ready in case Dash is unable to continue.
In the end, I guess the decision is ultimately up to the DM.

Looking at my options
I have talked to Cdnflirt and will be reviewing a "sample" post to see if she gets the jist of the character.
YeOlde - Please send me the character when you are done so I can see the fit with the team.
I don't want to lose Sam as I hold out eternal hope of Rob returning. However, I have thought of an easy way to write Sam out temporarily, so I can swing either way. I will go with the option that best suits the game and the other players.

Another thought
Although I am sure you feel the spider web forming around you, I would think that you don't want to leave planetside with an empty cargo bay or at least passengers. Seems like that will burn a large hole in the payment you are about to receive.
Not that it's my place to tell you what to do or when ... just good business sense.
