Refresh my memory...

Didn't Ash take one of our radios? Couldn't we send him a wave that way? Get him in position without having to put Bowman in town? That way Bowman and Wolf could possibly get smuggled into the mine and we'd have two aces up our sleeve (provided that the mine isn't guarded).

I like that idea Better :)

Two in the mine is better then one and we have already shown that Bowmen and Wolf work well together.

Another "random thought"...

...occurred to me on this one, too, and got me wondering... How hard would it be to "hot drop" the mule (along with Andy, Wolf, and a good selection of the Kid's armory) at or near the mine as opposed to actually landing there?

I figure Bridget isn't exactly a dim bulb and could be likely to notice the divots left behind by a Firefly landing close by... if we do a fly-over and drop the mule out of the cargo bay, though, there's no landing, plus we get the added advantage of additional mobility once we've accompanied the sultry school-marm back... could come in handy if we decide we need a sniper at range or need to make a quick escape...

Just brainstormin...

some answers

To send a wave you need a powerful transmitter and the handheld are not enough. You can contact Ash with radio from atmo but it would be very hard to scramble the signal.

Just a reminder that Brigit said she would meet you at the mine, not in town. She knows you are coming and she knows that is where you will want to go.

Which is...

Another reason why I wanted to arrive ahead of schedule. She may know we are coming, but if we get there earlier than anticipated we might be able to sneak our aces into the hole.

A Wave??

You were suggesting sending a wave to Ash, but he's not at the shuttle, so how would he get a message? I don't remember him having a radio, BUT IT COULD HAPPEN!

I'll have to go check Ash's gym bag, lol!

I haven't checked the back-posts...

But I think that we left him with a radio besides the shuttle.

A wave Radio.....

He must have had a radio of some kind, I found this on page 20 in Al's post "Major".

“I’ve handled worse Captain”, the young man lied, “Besides, it ain’t gonna be long. Two weeks tops. I can handle the troubles they got here until then – anything is better than what they got. As for Alliance, I can play stupid with the best of them, Captain. I’ll wave you every day so you can keep tabs on me – and I’ll let you know what’s gonna on here. I got’s the feeling there are many hands being played here.”

So let's build on this.

Okay

This is the way it is ....

My thoughts on the wave vs radio at the time and today is based on radio wave as I understand them and concept on how "waves" could work in Serenity.

Waves are long range messages through space that use tachyon pulse to make person to person possible over vast ranges of space. They need a pulse beacon and a powerful transmitter. Ash (in my mind) was going up spaceport and using the transmitter there.

Brigit waved you from her classroom, which mean she has some high tech (newtech) stuff.

Ash has a radio. Roc and Ash can communicate via radio if you are in atmo.

The shuttle has a stronger radio so you could try that when you were a few hours away from the planet.

NOW - if someone believes this is wrong and has a different opinion then sound off please. Communication is a very grey area in the TV series vs the Movie so I am open to different theories.

Breaker, breaker Good Buddy.......

This is your game Al so what ever techy stuff you want or will allow is good.

There could be little long range spy communicators with "special" tuned unit to unit phase wave Ion-quark beams (Ion-quark Communication Instrument, better known as "Ickys") that jump and home in on its the receiver. These are clandestine devises that require direct beam intersection and ion resonance frequency to be able to intercept a message. They do require the pink lithium-ether crystals as a power source (slang "Ether Bunnies").
