I meant "forcing our hand" as in providing info and a course of action for an NPC that directly effects our choices. Did not mean it in a bad way.
"The choice I leave to each of you, but in fifteen minutes with or without you my friends, I am going up those stairs!” I did not take that as a suggestion, a possibility or anything other than an NPC saying they were doing exactly what they said. That is even more true as the DM is playing the NPC and I know you do use it at times to "nudge" us.

*sighs* I have no idea is my spell was cast or if Althena spoke before I cast alarm. I'm going to have to look at my spells but *sighs* seems like I will just go with them...I am undecided right now...I'm really low on spells right now, but I believe moving ahead is the right thing to do. We should stick together, because with our luck if we divide ourselves up, the door is seal behind those of us who go up the stairs and won't let anyone else come in until either we claim the sword or are dead...I think we should all stick together guys. The spell casters need sleep, but I think we should carry on, by the looks of things, most magic won't work against what the sword throws at us anyways, so we will mostly use our melee attacks anyways....
we should heal up if hp needs it, otherwise I vote we ALL continue together.
(DM EDIT: Althena spoke up before you cast the spell so you still have it in your inventory)

Here a chance to team up on spells, look at others available spells and let share ideas on how to build a strong mix of spells.
We'll need our best, but don't forget that Tann always has surprises.
BTW Tann, in Ulthok's quick search did he also check those big double doors at the end of the room? It sounded like they were different, not just room doors, but then I've been wrong before. I was hoping for an option to the stairs, you know us thieves don't like a frontal attack. i was hoping for a secret back stair.
Yes when he checked them out he found them to be both locked and magically sealed as they are the main doors INTO the Pyramid. On the other side is the large plain with all those slug like worms and as things stand with the collapsed tunnel, your only way out of the Pyramid at the moment.
