No Effect

The cloak, as well as everyone's armor, seemed to have no effect on the creatures ability to hit you.

What a Pickle!

Ok I sent a few questions your way Tann; I am not familiar with the gaming system so I thought I would ask a few on how things work.

Thanks!

Ok, who brought the fire? I dont see that Kenji has anything that might help as his main offensive weapons are his swords which seem useless at this point. Beginning to believe that the Samurai, while a cool character, is not a very good fit for this type of adventure. In reading back I see he has been of little help really.

fire

The fire elemental triggered the attack. Not sure why things afraid of fire would rush to attack rather than flee but so it goes. Don't judge teh character on this fight; it is stacked against many of teh characters based on their weapons. Previous "unhelpfulness" was in part due to player interpretation of the character. Feel free to change and mold Kenji to your personnal method. Worst case, Kenji can deliver healing potions and absorb damage to keep the spellcasters alive.

Map

Could we get a map showing the location of everyone and the bugs?

How big are these bugs? Wide? Tall?

I read the description but it doesnt really give the size beyond Giant.

Thanks!

Oh dont worry about me, I will figure out some things to do and keep Kenji useful or die trying.

Of course that isn't plan A, or even plan B.

*thoughts*

Alright, so I had an idea, but I know I am poisoned and no idea if the potions I have on me will heal the poison or not. I will get a post up soon, I intend on casting Iron Wall between us and those that have not made it within our ranks, so that we can destroy those within our ranks first, on a more even playing field.

Could somebody let me know if I have anything that I can use, or if somebody else can heal the poison? I am in a very inspired mood right now. I am headed into chat if any of you would like to discuss our options there as well

wall

I thought of the wall idea as well but if we are going to do that it would be best to cooperate and have a cloudkill cast on what will be "the other side" of the wall before you call up the wall. Good idea to divide and conquer

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek...........

This is going to be tough. Tann seemed to be giving me a clue with back stab, so now I need to figure out how to use it.

This is so mind blowing.

So much going on, RL is realing being a pain. Chaos is just driving things crazy.

Ok Map's up

Ok check my last post on page 157 and you'll find a new map.

After looking at movement rates and combat results for drawing up this map thats how it came out. As you can see there is really no defensive line between party and critters so a Wall spell may not work. You could always retreat to the stairs as the Roach/Scorps are too big to fit and follow down the stairs.
Also note the direction of the arrows on each creature as that donates which way they are facing.

OOPS MY BAD!! I also just realized I forgot to add Sirene's Fire Elemental. It is to the left rear of Sirene between her, Rayne and Cor and centered in the triangle of all three.

Hmm...

Been busy over the last few days, so I haven't had the time to post. The fact that we are spread out and the bugs are all over the shop makes things difficult. I would like to cast some Cloudkills and Fireballs, but I risk friendly fire if I do so.

The question is: does Sirene go ahead and cast her damage-dealing area of effect spells and risk damaging allies? Is there a way for people to move so that Sirene can cast a fireball without hitting anyone? Or should I just try to disintegrate one bug this turn (which may not be as effective, since they may have a high save vs. spells)?

options

The stairs sound nice; since it seems our weapons arent 'cutting' it

Might be best to use the fire elemental to attack them and maybe they will converge on it and we can retreat to the stairs and think about Plan B.

Just a thought. Since I am new to this, I will reserve my post for after I see some direction from others. Already working on a few thoughts, but want to see how everyone else is doing first before I committ.

Plans...

I vote on retreating to the stairs, and having the fire elemental defend us during out retreat. Then we can talk it out in game what the best game plan is, to reduce the amount of damage dealt to us.

Run!? then what are you waiting on...

Use the fire thingy! Hurl a couple of high level spells at them and run! I can only dance around and hope because i am closer to the blue sword thing they come at me. And I will not make a good bug chew toy for long.

...

Ok, sounds like something resembling a plan. I'll have Sirene stay in the open and lay down a fireball and then a cloudkill to cover the retreat (since she's invisible and flying).

No deep breaths......

I'm afraid that cloud kill could backfire on us. The gas can get back on us too easily.

retrograde advance

The stairs idea seems sound at the moment. Cloudkill is a good spell as it does not have the problem of coming back at us.

Per the PH:
"The cloudkill moves away from the spellcaster at 10 feet per round, rolling along the surface of the ground. A moderate breeze causes it to alter course (roll for direction), but it does not move back toward its caster."

Fire elemental serve as rear guard while we valiently advance in a retrograde direction.
