Has anyone given thought that the castle itself is a living thing? Changing itself to allow us to find only what it wants us to? Just a passing thought as I don't remember seeing anything of that nature posted.
Lothor could throw one of his handaxes at the tapestry. That would seem likely to trigger whatever we are supposed to trigger. Or do we want to search first?
I was going to say we could set the tapestry on fire to destroy it, but judging by what it look like, that seems unlikely to help. Could we douse it with water or freeze it?
Anyone (Ody?) know what it depicts? It sounds kinda like a Salamander, Tann even uses that term. But the 4-armed part doesn't fit.
I think an examination of the throne seems like a good idea first. Then, if nobody else has any ideas, from a "safe" distance Lothor will throw an axe. Just because. Stop me if you think that sounds as dumb as I do.
Well Tann will also do hybrids of monsters just for this game, sort of home rules stuff. I say we do the search thing first. Tossing the axe at the tap is a bit rash, but hey we never know. Before careful about touching things, look but don't touch.
The throne is an obvious trigger but just stepping on the dais might trigger something.
"Don't go throwing axes at tapestries..."
"Don't just chuck Ulthok in the fountain..."
"Don't go knocking on the sarcophagi...."
"Don't go annoying the GM..."
Where is your sense of adventure??!! Aren't we on an adventure after all?
But seriously, I did say search first. I was just tempted to say, "when we find nothing Lothor throws an axe," so that Tann can keep things moving. After all, what are the odds we find anything here other then more specifics on the crown and bone throne?
While I can wait for Tann to say nothing, I do think it is worth coming up with plans. How do we want to trigger this thing, assuming we do want to trigger it. Stepping on the dais might work, but the axe idea has the advantage of distance. Lothor will not be volunteering to sit on the throne or put on the crown.
And another question - when we found the boxes we talked about the number of them and how they seemed to match the sword-wraiths, or whatever they are called. And now we have a throne room. (Interestingly a throne room that moves in space as well as time.) Did the big baddy, he-whose-name-I-can-never-remember, have any connections to snake like things? I personally have no idea what that thing depicts other than something I'd rather not fight.
Take all the time you need. I know the stress of having a older parent in Nursing care. It took two months of rehab for my Mom to recover from her car accident. My thought are with you and her.
BTW...Why the hell didn't you tell me about this last Week!!!!
Bren.. I am more than happy to help or give advice. Keeper and I have been in the game the longest now and Nimu has been.. left and come back. So just ask us anything. Use the PM if you want. I use the PM as a group forum when trying to discuss stuff in a way to keep with Rule #1, "Don't give the DM ideas!" and email works too.
Why did I not tell you Ody, that's easy, because I myself did not know until Mon morning when she finally agreed to go to the ER and get checked out. Took me the whole weekend until she finally realized she needed to go.
Also there has been no word on what's going on about her coming home on this weekend so it looks like not till Mon.
As such I will be putting up a post Sunday unless she does come home.

There really isn't that much to get wrong. Just tell us what you want the character to do. And if, by chance, the poor pooch gets screwed, well, we'll just find a way to resurrect it and you can do it again... Well, maybe not again, that might not be nice to the poor little doggy. But you can try something else.
We have a bone throne, a lizard skull, and a tapestry.
Any ideas? I'd assume (Always safe) that smashing the skull doesn't kill the critter in the tapestry, but probably summons it. Destroying the tapestry? Sitting on the throne? Toss something onto the throne? Destroy the throne? Roll up the tapestry? (How is it hung?) Put the skull in a magical bag (holding?) for safe keeping - which means picking it up, of course. Move the skull gently. Try to move the throne? Pull one of its teeth? Dispel magic on one of the items? An animate spell on the skull, if we have one? Surround the throne (or dais) with some kind of spell (wall of . . . ?) before moving or destroying anything. Poke out the eyes on the tapestry or skull.
I'm just trying to brainstorm. Not coming up with much.
