Ody, I'm not sure what you meant by the "middle hall." Perhaps my mental map is wrong, but I was under the impression that the room we have rested in was sort of like the hub of a wheel with 4 spokes going off in different directions.
One went to the entrance.
One to the tomb room
One to the torture room
One to the fountain - but now to the throne room.
So whatever room we want to go to, we have to go back through that central "hub room" and then back out down another passage.
Tann, could you clarify - am I imagining this correctly?
As for resetting rooms, we really don't know what triggers it. Yes, we did stuff in the torture chamber, but that doesn't mean that was the trigger. It was also just the 4th room we went to. You might get a random room down each corridor for all we know - the throne room showed up the first time we tried to go to a room for the second time.
I'm fine with trying the tomb room again, although if the tombs are still there that is the last room Lothor wants to actually trigger.
I so badly wanted to have Lothor dispose of the bench by throwing it at the tapestry while saying, "hey guys, watch this!" That phrase always works out so well it would almost be guaranteed to trigger something...
Thanks, Tann. I appreciate that. Thought it was on her spell list, but she's passed hand to hand a few times so my list might not be right.
In terms of spells memorized, it doesn't look like it's been updated on the char sheet since our last rest. She cast Wizard Sight in the tomb room, then Stoneskin before the Golems. Then we rested and she hasn't cast anything since. Also, I swapped out a spell for Legend Lore.
If she checked the tapestry and was the door, how was she deemed to not be watching behind us? We never walk without a rear guard (at least we have not up until now.) and do not leave doors open behind us. If the party is in the hallway how did the creature get to us? Maybe I am just confused as to how it happened and need the map as well.
If it has no been stated correctly prior, The party always moves with the last person watching the rear and closes doors behind us. We also look up and around at random intervals. :-)
First you never made it to the hallway or out of the room. Second as you said the last person watches behind you, Aliya was the last person and that's why she got the free attack.
As for closing doors there isn't one just a rotted frame.
From now on to make things clearer state who is rear guard so I know who the last man/women out is.
As for the map I apologize it's been a busy week and have not had the time to draw it up even though it is one of my lil basic's lol.
So even though I'll get it up this weekend sometime I'm gonna postpone my post till next Sunday to give you all time to discuss your actions.
Ulthok can't cast but he can do some things with area effect so the map would be helpful. Very much like when we attacked the goblins in that castle room. Distance, direction and location are important so party members don't get hurt by friendly fire.
I have two very different actions in mind but I still need to know where everyone and everything is standing. Even dazed he would have a pretty good idea of that.
"As the group headed out the door the conversation turned to where to go next. Lothor, always warry of what was behind them, kept an eye on the room and the tapestry until they were out."
So, how can you say that no one was looking behind them? Lothor even specified looking at the tapestry. The other guy might be fast, but Lothor should not have been surprised and would have given a shout.
