The Monster Hunters Collective - A 3.5 Audalis game looking for players

Monster Hunters Collective

Hello everybody,

Itís time to try my hand once more at DMing a campaign in the world of Audalis.

Hereís the plan:

The players will be a group of monster hunters, who go through a series of short adventures or scenarios. Each scenario will involve a monstrous threat which must be annihilated. This doesnít mean that in every adventure there will be a single monster, but the adventure is done once the main villainous monster has been defeated.
Example: a farmer is being bullied by an orc and his goblin subjects. The orc is the main villain, and must be slain.
Each scenario will be according to your level, and concluding a scenario will result in the group gaining a level. There will be no XP involved. A single adventure will mean all characters go up a single level.

We want game mechanics!!
Alright then:
- Rules. Weíll be playing D&D 3.5, using mostly the PHB, DMG and MM. Focus your attention on character personality and roleplaying qualities rather than the best skills or powers. If I donít have access to a book youíre suggesting, what youíre suggesting will not be allowed. Just to make sure: the Book of Nine Swords is not on my shelves.
- Starting level will be 1. Your character will have no real experience what soever in fighting, magic or skills. Everything you know, youíve learned from books or training. The first scenario will be your characterís first time to truly make use of anything they know.
- Races. You pick your race from the PHB, or from the list of Audalis races.
- Stats. Stats are 74 points divided over 6 abilities, with racial bonuses added later on.
- HP. HP are the total for your first level. If you roll a d4, itís 4. Bonuses from Constitution scores are added to that total.
- Equipment. Make your character like any normal 1st level character, but for the first adventure, I reserve the right to scratch stuff from your list. Donít worry, youíll find the equipment youíve chosen in that first adventure.
- Alignment. Your character must be good, or have a really good reason not to be. I have had my share of CN characters. Evil can be fun, but only if it is done in the right way. In my experience, not many people know what that way is. See if you can convince me.
-Background. The adventures and scenarios will take place in Cordia. You all come from the same town, and you will all know each other. In your description, state where you have learned your skills and tell us a little about how your character comes across.

In addition, the following is very important: Posting frequency will be once a week. That means that once a week youíll get a full update, but conversations might be held during the week.

All rolling of dice will be done by me. If you want to use a skill, tell me, and Iíll do the rolling for you. Battles will be rolled by me, and described to you in the updates. So, make sure that your intentions are clear.

I think we all require proper spelling and grammar for this to work well. Also, I need posts to consist of more then a few lines in updates, and I expect your characters to work towards keeping the game going. A post in which you state that your character is waiting and observing can be good once, but if it becomes a regular thing, youíre not helping the game-flow.

While Monster Hunting may sound like a hack and slash game, this will most likely be more than just that. Keep that in mind.

Yes, I know what I want, and I hope I havenít scared everybody away. I just really need a group of dedicated players, who are willing to see their characters rise form ordinary peasants to heroes the bards sing of.

If youíre pressed for time: donít sign up. If youíre easily distracted: donít sign up.
But if youíre looking for character development, monsters and magic, and a share of fortune and fame: give me a call!

Iím looking for a group of 6 players max. Letís see what we can get!

Very awesome!

Recently my own game has been flourishing, and my interest in glued to the inn, so if you don't mind I would love to join your game! I'm in a good place to be at the inn for a very long time and my obligations towards rdinn put me in a spot where if i just up and left I would make many people very angry

So if you would have me, I would be honored Almerin, as your games are always amazing and since I've been Dming my game I've been wanting very much so to be a player again!

Oh, two quick questions:

1) With the hp, your having us roll at level 1 or take max? Since level one in 3.5 has everyone taking max hp.

2) are you saying don't worry about equipment and don't get any as we'll receive items in game?

I'd like to

I'd join, if you don't mind having someone who's never played 3.5 before. I'll need to find a pdf probably, but I'd like to join.

Questions and answers

Thanks for quick responses, guys.

Jozan, you're more than welcome in this game. Any idea what you want to play yet?

As to your questions: you don't roll HP, but take the max. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
And: I'm saying that you do make a full equipment list, but this equipment may not be fully at your disposal at the beginning of the game.

Chessic, a rogue is always a very handy assett of any team. You're absolutely welcome to join.

SlenderNinja, I never shy away from taking on 3.5 first timers. In fact, you'll learn that if you roleplay your character well, you won't need to know the rules that well either. Still, a copy of the book is indeed handy, since I will recuire you to 'level up' your characters yourselves. So, any idea what you want to play?

Ok cool...

I'm not sure what I'm gonna play, I'm either gonna play a melee/caster type, or go with a Khord fighter type who aspires to be a stone lord. either one.

Me too

I'd love to lay claim on the final spot. A cleric (Khord or Human) or druid (Syl or Human) for me. I'll send more info tomorrow.

.

Ok so my final character concept is going to be a Khordulum fighter who wants to be a stonelord like his father and fore fathers were. I'm sure I'd get more to it later :p

Also, did we grow up in the town or did we just arrive here and got to know each other in our time visiting the town?

That was fast

With the Inn being down (at least for me it has been), I'm surprised at the number of reactions already. Thanks guys!

Jozan: I briefly scanned the sheet you sent me. Trauborn looks good so far.

As to your question: at the moment of the start of the game, you all live in the village, and you are all considered commoners. It is up to you to decide how long you've been living in the village etc.

Admiral & Ayrn: I'd be happy to game with you guys again.

Takley: I don't like turning people down, but I've looked at your previous posts in other games, and I am a bit hesitative towards letting you join.
This game will require you to write more than a few quick lines of thought or action. I am going to put time into this, and I expect my players to do the same. If you are up to this, than you are welcome to join. If this is not for you, than I would like you to make that decision before the game starts. Otherwise I reserve the right to make that decision at a later moment myself.
For an example of play, check here: old Almerin game.
Let me know what you think.

im new to forum

with my posts, i've only just started forum games. im more used to table top, ill respect whatever decision you make, but please continue to look at them to see if they become good enough good one of your games. At least consider me for the game just in case you need someone to take over a slot in the party.

I might be interested in joining and playing a sorcerer or a wizard... some sort of arcane spellcaster.

Also Almerin,

Did you mean Cordia, or Coria? The only maps and stuff I can find in Audulis reference a Coria, no 'D' :p
