Introductions are in order!

Hello Red Dragon Inn. My name is Michael, AKA Archangel. I have been lurking about for a couple weeks now reading and seeing the games going on here and thought I would finally register and make my presence known.

I am an old RPer from way back in the Original D&D days when I was a little tike of 10 y/o, I graduated to Basic and then on to the Best version ever, 2nd Edition AD&D. I have dabbled with the latter versions but have found them to lack some of the true Role-play feeling of the 2nd Edition.

Anyway, I have been away from playing for a few years, my latest group of players, and there have been many through the years, has gone their separate ways with Real Life intruding upon their gaming time. So I have been seeking a place where maybe I can RP and get back that old feeling I got from RPing once again.

I have tried a few other sites, most I have found to be a bit too strict on silly rules, like having a character approved by the head of the forum before you can even post anything? Well, like I said I have been lurking about and reading for a few weeks here and like what I see. RDI seems more laid back and more about RPing and having fun than rules which are only meant to “allow only the best RPers to play” as one forum’s webmaster said to me; like they are best judge of who is the best RPers.

Therefore I wish to declare that I am here to seek out a game, preferably a 2nd Edition AD&D, but I am open to others though I may not be familiar with the system or have the required books, etc. I have played many other systems throughout the years, i.e. Gamma World, Travellers, Battletech, Champions, Gangbusters, Shadowrun, Serenity, etc. Too many to name them all, frankly I would be hard pressed to remember all that I have played.

So I will be lurking about and keeping an eye on the recruitment section in search of a game. Keep up the great RPing, it gives me something to read.

Well Met!

Welcome to the inn! I think 2e is known for being the strongest, and it may be the most popular on the inn.

Welcome Archy..........

Belly up to the bar and enjoy a tall frothy mug of "Good Old Froth-n-Slosh".

There are plenty of chances to enjoy 2E games by playing or reading.

I'm sure you'll find a recruitment soon to fit your taste.

Welcome Archangel! As said above, nice to find old school D & D folks. In fact, a group of us are just cranking up a 2ed game; the thread is called "A Single Stone..." and the GM is Tek. Check out what we've posted so far, along with the Q & A thread. If you want to join, I'd bet Tek would be happy to have you if you want to send him a private message.

Happy Inn-going!

Thank you all for the warm welcoming. I am glad to see a lot of 2nd edition people here; seems we are a dying breed.

I see the game you mentioned Duncan74 but it seems the recruitment for that game has closed. I will keep my eyes on the recruitment threads for something that strikes my fancy.

I will be reading in the meantime.

Welcome, and don't just hang out watching, but throw your money on the table and be dealt in. It's fun.

I have every intention of throwing my money on the table as soon as I find a game which I can join.

I might PM a couple of DMs for games, which have peaked my interest, to see if they might have room for me.

I know I am new and unproven but I hope someone will give me a chance to prove my abilities.

Hallo there!

Though I seem to be a mite late, I can't miss a new arrival or a greeting! It's so good to see a fresh face in the party. I wish you a great stay here in the inn below the tavern and great gaming overall; perhaps we shall see each other soon.
